Narrator 's pov;
It has been 1 year already after the whole switching drama.
Both Ethera and Avery are now living in their own dimensions, life is pretty much back to normal.
After their permanent switch at the end , Avery's face went back to normal, Sheila's memories of Ethera and Alba were erased and the same thing happened with Heizel who forgot Avery and the existence of the transition.
The two only people who kept their memories are Avery and Ethera because they kept their bond intact and they still wear their amulets.
Ethera went back to being the noble consort , yes the title of Princess consort was also erased because it was a modification resulting from Avery's existence in Alba.
Ethera had to build her character in a way that she wouldn't be bullied anymore by the other consorts.
But it was at the expense of her cheerful and kind nature, after her last exchange with Avery she was left lost in her character.
She did not know how to act for as much as Tobias had forgotten the moments he had spent with Avery it was not enough to make her feel better after knowing what happened in her absence.
She knew it wasn't Tobias's fault so she just forgave him and continued to fulfill her role as his wife.
With time she learnt to love him and they even had kids together.
Unfortunately the king never loved her enough to promote her in rank so she stayed a regular consort.
As for her position with Avery , it is clear that she does not want anything to do with her anymore.
They are no longer friends and they both have to stay in their own times and live their own lives.
To Ethera , meeting Avery was a mistake.
As for our lead female, Avery , she continued her classes , wrote her essay on Alba at the end of the semester and got an A+ and special congratulations from her professor and school board , her talent for writing was acknowledged and she was given major opportunities in the historical field in terms of writing.
She is thriving career and education wise.
And as much as this may be a great place to be for her , she feels the heaviness of guilt take her every single day.
She carries the guilt of causing the death of her cousin Helga, whose funeral happened months after her arrival in New York , it was suspicious that she never came back home so at some point the police decided to announce her dead to relieve the family. Avery never had the courage to face them so she never attended the funeral nor did she contact anyone from her family after she came back. She has been hiding in her guilt and she hasn't even told Sheila about it yet.
Maybe she will never.
Another guilt she carries is the one of betraying her friend Ethera by falling in love with her promised and hurting Eric even if he doesn't know it yet hence why she has officially let him go by friend zoning him. She knew she did not deserve Eric nor any other person to be honest.
She had gone back to her toxic mentality of believing she deserved no love and that no man would pick genuine interest in her and if he did she would mess something up.
And for the last piece of guilt she feels it is because of her knowing the cruel fate of her friend Ethera and the man she came to loves Tobias.
She knew Tobias would be dethroned and killed and that She along with her kids would killed as well in the fight to usurp the throne , all at the hands of Helton the evil advisor.
She knew all this and yet she could not share it with them because she had to respect the laws of time traveling.
If she had revealed that and thus saved them , she would have changed the whole course of history which would have disastrous impacts on the future.
Fate was indeed cruel to the trio.
Were there moments she wished she had never traveled through time? Absolutely.
But every time she remembers the good memories she has with Tobias and the amazing friendship she had built with Ethera she can't stop but be thankful.
Thankful that she got to meet love across time…
