Evidence was Deon's greatest enemy after what happened between them a long time ago.
Deon was the right-hand man of late Master Don.
The death of Master Don was shocking news to everyone. A great man, the man who wouldn't want to make trouble with anyone, the man who was known to be a non-alcoholic person was said to have died by a car accident and was also seen with bottles of alcoholic drink with him, in his car after the Accident happened. And it was also said that someone was behind it.
Master Don was a widower with two daughters of 25 years and 22 years old. The elder one was called Clara and was a lawyer in the United States, while the second daughter was a graduate that studied music as a course because she loves singing.
The two girls had lost their mother since there were tender and has grown attached to their late father, especially Mara who had lived with her father ever since she was a child. His death was something they wouldn't bear but seek revenge on whoever was responsible.
"The first child of Master Don will come any moment from now, if any of you should speak the truth, I will feed your flesh to the vultures while you are still alive."
Here comes Mr. Deon, second in command to Late Master Don. He was the right-hand man of Late Master Don and was given so much trust by the late man who never knew that his death would come from his closest and trusted one.
Mr. Deon had already informed the daughter of Late Master Don that her father had died and the person who was responsible for his death was the owner of the Condom company, Mr. Evidence. Because of the jealousy he had for Evidence due to the disagreement that had happened years ago, he decided to take his revenge on him by lying to his boss' daughter that evidence was responsible for her father's death, even when he knew who was responsible for that.
"No one will speak the truth to anyone. I have said it, and I am saying it again. The three of you witnessed everything and if anyone else should know of it, then you all will be responsible for that. Involving me will definitely cost you your head. Have I made myself clear?"
"Yes sir!"
They all responded to him, giving him the respect that he had long desired since his boss was alive. While Master Don was alive, Deon actually wanted to taste power, he wanted to experience how it feels to be respected and feared by people, especially by the people that sees him as their source of income. He enjoyed being called sir and secondly, he enjoyed not being told what to do unlike when his boss was alive, he would absolutely be the one answering 'yes sir' which he always hated.
Immediately they said 'yes sir' and bowed to him, he felt satisfied.
"Good! Now, you all should leave. But wait… Where is Mara?"
" I think she should be at home."
"Okay then. Did you inform her that her big sister would be coming in soon?"
"Yes, boss, I already did."
"Good. You can leave now."
They bowed again and left immediately he gave the order.
Mr. Deon who was now happy that he presently has power over everyone in Master Don's company was seated in Master Don's customized seat as he planned his next move.
'I will tell her Evidence killed her father…. She will believe me, and then I will make her start a war with Evidence, which I know would lose her life in the process and this company will be mine. As for Mara, …. she shouldn't be an issue. I will just marry her off to anyone…. She is tender, so she doesn't have a choice. Or should I silent her forever? Well, she isn't a problem for now.
Evidence… if I get rid of the girls, and Evidence should find out am behind this…. No! No! No! I won't let this happen.'
Was he really seeing Mara to be week one? Because she was too quiet? Because she always smiles even when she knows all is not well? Was it because she was too innocent? Oh, my! Maybe he is making a big mistake, or probably he is not.
He stood up from the seat, walking to and fro as he continued his master planning.
'What if I do my best to make sure Clara sends Evidence to prison and thereafter, I silence the two girls? Yes! That's a perfect idea.' With his hands in his pocket, he nodded his head.
' In that way, no one would drag all my achievements with me'
Did he just call it his achievements? Such a greedy man. He prefers not to work for his success but wants to acquire one's wealth built within so many years in just a minute.
Now that he had concluded on what to do next, he brightened up his face and left the office. As he opened the door, he saw Mara just at the door side.
"They said you were at home and…" he stammered.
"Yes, I just came to pick up something in my father's office." She said, giving him a dangerous look.
"Office… nice, nice, good girl."
Mara didn't say any more word to him, but instead, she walked inside the office and took what she came for, then left immediately. She was tempted to lock the office and go with the keys, but she couldn't do so because she didn't have that right as a lady. After all, Mr. Deon was her father's right-hand man.
Green snake in the green grass. That was what Deon was. A proud, castigated and proud fool was better than him but in this case, these words suit to describe the kind of person he was. After serving Master Don for years, he decided to show his true identity.
