My hand reached for his outstretched arm, but it would not budge. "Rasvien, don't!"
I couldn't explain why, but I had this profound sense of not wanting the creature to be harmed. I knew that it didn't seek to harm me, and Ras' reaction was unaccounted for.
The Mirage stopped hissing, and it let go of its wrist. From where the blade had cut it, I could see a black smoke drifting upward. It seemed to be the effect of Ras' blade.
"Leave," Ras growled, "or I will end you."
The Mirage's body glowed brighter as I felt its surge of emotions. "This measly human has no right to order us around."
Despite the anger its showing, there was also a mix of fear that radiated from the creature, its gaze solely fixated on Ras' shadows. Alert and wary.
