Upon arrival, the headquarters was quiet and solemn, with not a soul in sight in the hallways. It was so unlike this morning, when the entire place had been bustling with life and activity, that I thought that the place had completely transformed into something new. Ras had led us to the same room they gave us on our first night here.
"It appears everyone is knocked out from earlier's happenings," Ras said as he opened the door for us. "Don't worry, I'll let them know that you two are back here first thing in the morning."
Soundlessly, Lira went in first, dropping our bags onto the floor almost immediately. With a groan, she threw her body into the bed. By the looks of it, she was already asleep. Guilt rushed into my chest once more to have to drag her into this mess, but it was true that I basically couldn't do anything without her.
