It was the consistent whining and scratching of the pups that woke me up. Since our room also had access to the backyard where they were, the pups would usually be on our side of the bed.
That was until Duncan glared at them.
The man in question was sound asleep, I hope he was. He never slept as deep as any other person had. The littlest noise would wake him up. He must be tired. Or…
I stood up and grabbed the shirt he had discarded before we ended in a horizontal tango. It smelled like him, so whatever was making Duncan remain sleeping should be weary that I was his woman, or so I hoped.
When I opened the side door leading to the backyard, Pillow ran toward me and gave me those puppy eyes. I sighed and picked him up.
Pillow snuggled against me, and immediately, closed his eyes. I gently stroked his fur, walking to where his other siblings were.
