章 49: Chapter 49: The Beginning of the Rest of Our Lives

Two entire months passed before Ethan was finally released from the NICU by doctor’s orders. Only then his body was able to carry on by itself without the need for breathing machines or an incubator.

During that period, Florence and Scott visited the baby at the hospital every single day, but since he was being observed, they couldn’t get too close. Watching him through glass was enough to calm their hearts, however, it wasn’t nearly close to what they really wanted.

The need to hold Ethan in their arms was all they could think about for weeks, and even though they tried their hardest to remain positive, it wasn’t a very good moment for either of them. The entire family was heartbroken, still collecting the pieces that this whole incident left behind.

Some good news came out of it though. Pearl had been arrested, and the waiter’s testimony, alongside other evidence that Phil managed to collect, was enough to put her behind bars for a long time.
