Florence knew. Or at least, she thought she knew. She never really heard the things Pearl had done or was capable of doing, but by the way Scott talked about her, it was easy to imagine.

Either way, she wasn’t willing to pay to see it. Florence now had another soul to take care of other than just hers. But she also couldn’t simply just leave Scott, could she?

She had promised him they were a team now, that they should stick together. They were married and just starting a new family. How could Florence simply leave him without saying a word? He would go to the ends of the Earth to find her if she did.

Pearl seemed to notice Florence’s hesitation because she didn’t stop.
