She felt trapped now as if she had no choice. She couldn’t deny that it was good to not have to worry about her debts anymore. She was no hypocrite.

But she always thought about marriage as something beautiful, magical even, when two people that really love each other decide to share their lives with one another and seek happiness together.

Now she was proposed to for the first time, and he didn’t even care to give her a ring. Not that it’d make any difference. From what she could take from the conversation, it was an exchange of favors, Scott’s words exactly.

Did that mean they wouldn’t live as a married couple? It would be just for show? Or would she have to act and behave as a normal and passionate wife would? What exactly did this deal implicate?
