章 8: A New Teacher.
"So….You just have to sign here!" Caroline opened one of the binder, and took out an official document, "And you are good to go!"
Davina smiled.
"Thank you….I am actually, really looking forward to starting the job!"
"Can I come in now?" Kol whined from outside the room.
"Sure!" Caroline said, she turned to Davina, "If you want a tour, I can take you right now, or tomorrow at 12."
"Why don't we go right now!?" She got up, and took the coat from the rack.
"Okay…" Caroline followed her. "Get the girls and us some dinner!" Caroline shouted, "You would like to have dinner with us?"
She asked Davina.
"Sure!" Davina smiled, "Plus, I really wanted to see the woman who would fall for Klaus Crazy Mikaelson."
Caroline laughed.
"What do you see in him?" She asked, "I mean…..Klaus is a diabolical jerk….No offense!"
Caroline's eyebrows raised.
"I could ask you the same question!" Caroline told her, "And, None taken!"
"Fair enough!" Davina shrugged her shoulders. "I didn't see that coming."
Caroline showed her the way towards the school.
"Can I ask….?" Davina started to say, Caroline nodded. "How old are you?"
"Well, I was turned into a vampire when I was seventeen." Caroline explained. "That was 15 years ago!"
"Is it weird?" She asked again,
"What's weird?" Caroline asked.
"Thinking, that someday…." Davina told her, "In the near future, your daughters are going to be the same age as you, or in some days, older?"
"I guess…." Caroline replied. "But I knew this would be inevitable. I am ready for it. I planned ahead."
Davina nodded,
"I got that from Klaus, he mentioned you once or twice!"
Davina paused,
"If you would get a chance," Davina asked her again. "Would you give up your vampirism?"
"No…" Caroline replied without thinking about it.
"I guess that's why Klaus likes you!" Davina commented.
"I mean, I wanted to." She confessed.
They had entered the school.
"When, I turned new." She said, "I wanted to turn back. But now.....look at all this!"
She told Davina.
"I am responsible for this!" She entered the main rooms, "I don't want this to fail!"
Davina smiled. Maybe this was the reason Klaus liked her. This is what pureness in death meant. She was dead, and most people turned evil when they turned into vampires. But her intentions were pure. She loved helping people. And her eternity was dedicated to other supernaturals.
Davina was quiet. She understood why Klaus loved Caroline. She understood why he said her aura was magical, and it attracted everyone. Because it did.
She thought about why she liked Klaus.
"Okay…" Caroline entered an office, "This is your office, and three classrooms will be assigned to you!"
Caroline showed her an empty office.
"Thank you." She smiled.
"You can set up tomorrow!" Caroline remarked, "You start next week!"
Caroline put the letter on the table. It was her appointment letter.
"And, I can easily get you a room here!" Caroline told her, "Or, an apartment, and if you wait for a little wall, maybe I can get you a lease on a house."
Caroline was swiping on her phone. Davina shook her head, she slightly felt scared on how organized Caroline was.
The phone rang. Caroline picked it on the second bell. She talked for about six minutes, while Davina looked around the room.
"I am getting there, Klaus….I'll bring the girls." She turned it off. "Come on.."
Caroline waved at her, and Davina followed her.
"You can ask me, Davina."
"What?" She turned around.
"You want to know why I like Klaus." Caroline said.
"How do you know?" Davina asked, surprised.
"Because, it is what most people ask me."
Caroline explained. "My friends, my colleagues, Hayley, Elijah, two kids at the Mystic Falls High School," Caroline counted the people who asked her that. "And an ice cream vendor, a florist and Hope Mikaelson."
Davina's eyebrows were raised.
"So, what is the answer?" She asked Caroline.
"All the crazy things he did were for some reason!" Caroline told her. "Everyone thinks he is crazy, and he is…..But he has his reasons for doing what he does."
Davina looked confused.
"Nobody ever bothered to ask what was the reason behind what he did." Caroline smiled, "But they saw all the crazy things."
Davina nodded,
"I still don't get it!" She laughed.
"Every vampire has darkness in them, no one saw mine because I have control over mine." She told Davina. "Only Klaus could see it."
"I don't believe it." Davina said softly, "I mean….How can you hide something that is so small….almost insignificant."
"Klaus has light in him, he hides as well as I can hide the darkest desires of my heart."
"I understand why Klaus would be attracted to you," Davina looked at her, "But why would you be attracted to him?"
"I can only answer this by quoting Klaus, it is not a crime to love what you cannot explain." Caroline smiled. She liked this girl. "I'll get the girls and we can get to dinner."
Davina went outside, and Caroline went inside the rooms. Hope Mikaelson came outside from the room.
"Caroline!" She squealed. "What are you doing here?"
"You can call me that outside school!" Caroline was on her knees, she held Hope's hands. "But inside here, I am Headmistress Salvatore-Forbes."
"Are you going to take my dad's last name after the wedding?"
Caroline's eyebrows raised.
"Where did that come from?"
Hope shrugged.
"Just asking." She eyed Caroline innocently. "You said I could ask you anything!"
"You can!" Caroline and Hope walked into the corridor, "But that was just out of the blue!"
"You didn't answer my question." She pouted,
"Sure!" Caroline shrugged, "I'll be Caroline Mikaelson-Forbes."
She sighed.
"It doesn't matter what name I have." She told Hope, "I have been seventeen for fifteen years, I don't think I am going to an office and change my name, or register my marriage!"
Hope nodded,
"Vampires!"
Caroline laughed.
"Let's go, Davina!" Caroline told Davina who was waiting for them at the door.
Lizzie and Josie were already outside, their bags strapped on their backs,
"Hello, Lizzie, Josie!" Caroline hugged her daughters, "How was school!? Did you make friends with Hope…."
The girls started chattering, and Davina joined them. She and Davina continued talking about school, and responsibilities.
A woman, with several other people following her, came towards her.
"Uh-Oh!" Caroline whispered. "Her again!"
"What happened?" Davina asked quickly.
"It's this group, they traveled here, and she is the travel leader, and she has been coming here for many years, she just gets suspicious about me!"
Davina snickered.
"Hello, Ms Forbes?" She came towards her, "Who are these beautiful girls?"
She asked. Caroline shook her head.
"Girls, why don't you go inside and tell Klaus and Kol that we are ready for dinner!"
They nodded, and ran ahead.
"Do these kids have parents?" the woman asked sharply.
"Yes…." Caroline told her, "These are my nieces!"
"Wha…." Davina started to say, and Caroline slammed her elbow in Davina's chest. She took a step back, and rubbed her sides.
"Okay…" the woman said, "Can I see their parents?"
Caroline moved towards her,
"You saw a girl with her nieces, someone you had never seen again. But when you see me again, you won't remember who I am. Leave. Now!"
Caroline compelled her. She moved her group along with her.
"She was getting suspicious!" She told Davina, "Like last year....."
