Feeling unabashedly proud of himself for his wisdom, Cas set out to find Mingan. When she wasn’t in the dining hall, he panicked a little. He had an uneasy sense that she was the type of wolf who would wander wherever she wanted without considering the consequences.

But that was extreme. Really, Cas selfishly wanted her tucked under his arm and away from the strays. He couldn’t trust them anymore—not that he’d trusted them before, but—

Oh, Goddess, I’m rambling, he thought in surprise.

I am also standing in the middle of the room feeling like a brainless lamb.

An older she-wolf smacked his leg from where she was sitting at one of the tables. “She went to go look at the body.”

Cas dipped his head and smiled at her. Instantly her sour disposition turned to a blush. Good to know his charm worked on all ages.

But he wanted to spend the energy on only Mingan Weylyn.
