章 7: Chapter 7 Confrontation
---- I changed the devil fruit type to paramecia instead of categorizing it as a special logia type fruit. Also for those you wondering where part of this is in the timeline. This is about 6 years before luffy fought Enel.----
It's been a few days since I 've arrived here. So far nothing has happened here, and my stay has been peaceful. Other than reading books about the area that I am at; I often enjoy my time hanging out with the kids as they seem to never grow tired of being around me or having me fly them around. The island that I am on is called blue ivy because of the unique ivy that grows on the island, and it is its main commodity as the blue ivy has multiple medicine uses.
I've learned that I am in the first half of the grand line. The first half of this grand line that I am in is also called the 'pirate's graveyard'. Perhaps it was because during this first half of the sea, it would weed out the weak and those who are truly strong, will advance to the second half, although I don't know that side's nickname. I learned about the divide in the sea. It appears that I am closest to the east blue sea. I also unfortunately received some bad news. It appears that I won't be able to meet one of the men that Gan Fall has told me about. Gol D. Roger has already died several years ago, however, before he had died, he was asked about where he had left his treasure. The 'One Piece' where it is rumored that it held all the riches that the world could offer at the final island. This ushered in a new age of pirates where multiple people young or old, strong or weak, journeyed out in the ocean, seeking for his treasure.
Hearing this news, I couldn't help but shake my head. Greed is such a terrible thing. Sure it is good to want something but wanting everything, it is not meant for just one person or group to have, yet people still sought out for this kind of treasure. I can't help but acknowledge that Roger was great person, but also truly evil as greed can make people blind and do bad things on their way towards it.
Currently in a library, reading on some light knowledge of the grand line, I immediately sensed ill intent starting to rise from the sea and coming closer and closer to this island. It seems like those pirates are finally back here. When it comes to damaged good, I probably won't care to much and let the islanders handle the situation themselves, however, if they so much as bruise a person on this island, I won't hold back. Things can be replaced but people can't.
Still watching from inside the building, I saw a mid-sized ship carrying about 30 pirates. However, I can immediately tell that they weren't that strong. Maybe it was because of the fact that they are pirates and behave rudely that the average person is intimidated at their presence and the lawless nature that they possess.
Every adult always teaches their young ones to stay away from such behavior but never teaches how to confront them and to leave it to the authorities.
Sure enough, most of the people here that saw the arrival of the pirates coming immediately took their kids in their arms and ran into their houses and locked their doors.
When the pirates arrived at the harbor, they immediately jumped off and with an evil grin begin walking through the town behaving as if they owned the island, taking everything they saw or broke things while laughing in enjoyment.
However, there was one particular girl who stood in the middle of the road looked quite proud and arrogant with her arms crossed. Of course, this girl was Sarah who looked down at these pirates with no fear in her eyes, as if she had found a strong backer who wouldn't let anything happen to her.
Sarah " You pirates. Stop breaking our things and leave this island. We don't want you here."
A large man with a bearded face and a ship-shaped hat looked at the little girl and laughed menacingly. " Little girl. You are quite brave to try and tell us to do. We are pirates. We don't listen to the rules made by you people. We can do what we want, when we want!"
Sara arrogantly said again, " Hmph, not anymore. You will leave this island or else you will face the angel's punishment."
Seeing this scene unfold I sighed as I got up. Clearly this girl was looking for trouble. However, I can't say I don't admire this brave behavior of hers. Brave but stupid as she is not the one that possesses the power to drive these pirates away.
I got up, exited the building stealthy and flew up into the sky, wanting to observe the actions of these pirates a little more. Since they have not hurt the people in the past and only stole and broke a few things, they may be a little smarter than they look, it was probably because they knew that if they hurt the civilians here then the marines won't overlook their actions anymore and will hunt them down until they are captured.
The pirate that looked like he was the leader of this crew, pulled out his sword and walked to Sarah with a menacing look. " Little girl, where is this angel that you talked about. Watch me pluck his wings and kill him."
Sarah looked around and still didn't see me show up which diminished her confidence a bit. She thought about the private meeting that took place and thought that her father must've told me something. However, she was already too deep in this situation and she was also confident that nothing would happen to her.
Sarah, " Hmph, I'm not scared of a bad guy like you. You do nothing but steal and break things. You must be too poor at home and chose to be bad guy."
As if it had hit a sore spot, the pirate's face started to tremble in rage as veins could be seen popping out of his face. " Damn little girl, there are things better left unsaid."
He raised his sword up as if determined to take Sarah's life, which prompted me to take action as this was indeed taking it a little to far.
I swooped down and before the sword could finish its purpose, caught it between my fingers. With a slight pinch, the sword shattered in pieces, which caused the pirate to step back in fear and surprise.
" You... Youu! Who the heck are you. A marine?!" He took a look again and saw the wings on my back, " De... Devil fruit?" He must've thought that I possessed a devil fruit related to my wings.
I smiled and said, " No, I am not a marine. These wings are also what I was born with."
There was no need to tell this man everything about me.
Then he took a breath in relief as he pulled out his gun that was strapped to his side. Although I broke his sword, he couldn't really believe that I was faster than a bullet right and started to ramble some threatening words which I ignored whole heartedly.
I crouched down and rubbed Sarah's head and said with a smile, " Little girl, there are some situations where you don't need to fight, and some situations where you do."
I pointed to the broken things and continued, " One shouldn't need to fight over a few simple things. They can be replaced. What's precious to us can be seen as something entirely different to other people. You must learn to understand what it truly important that is worth risking your life for. Do you know what that is?"
As if becoming a meek girl like what her age should show, she looked around and saw the people hiding in their houses covering the ears and eyes of some of the children.
Sarah, " Is it people?"
I smiled and nodded, " Good. That's right. Objects can easily be replaced or fixed, but we can't possibly replace our loved ones can we?"
Sarah thought for a moment as she reflected upon herself and slowly began to understand a little about why her dad has not made any drastic movements or called for stronger help from the marines and simply paid them for the 'protection fees'.
She then nodded and said, " Yes, those we love can't ever be replaced."
" That's right."
After this short conversation was when I finally stood up and looked towards the pirate who was still rambling on and on about his 'great name' but his face was full of veins as he was angry and embarrassed about getting ignored in front of so many people.
As if he had enough, he shot as soon as I stepped forward to confront him. In which I caught the bullet easily.
With the bullet in hand, I looked and said to him, " One should know one's own limit."
Judgement sword is not needed for this level of opponent. My fists alone are enough.
With a simple step forward, I had already appeared before him, and launched a strong punch to his face that sent him flying dozens of feet backwards.
Seeing their captain get sent flying backwards by just one punch, all the other pirates immediately stopped in their tracks and looked at their captain for a few more seconds. However, they did not see him stand back up. They all slowly took steps backwards and then a few more seconds passes as I continue to step up slowly, which causes them to finally run in fear and quickly grabbed their passed out captain and fled to their ship and started to take off.
Seeing this situation play out, the people that were still hiding in their houses came out with a smile and started to praise me for my feat of fighting off the pirates, admiring my strength.
After a few minutes of joyful praise and cheers, it was as if it was on cue that a marine ship showed up and arrived on the scene. Looked towards me and the crowd as if trying to assess the situation.
However, I already saw the slight greed in his face and the disappointment that shown when he saw that there were no pirates in the area.
He man immediately pointed towards me and yelled out, " For deceiving the public, arrest that man!"
