章 9: Day 10: Things to do

As my eyes opened ready for another day, I was met with Complexia's monotone expression and my breakfast.
Following me, the rest of the girls woke up and we all had breakfast together once more.
"Call everyone again. Today, I'll announce to everyone the leaders of each faction and the start of another project." I ordered once we were done eating.
Everyone got up and before long, I was once again in front of all the goblins.
"Each of you was assigned to one of the four factions yesterday, and today I've decided who will be leading each of these factions. The combat faction will be led by Goburia as the supreme commander. The intellectual faction will be led by Complexia as the Great Counselor. The production faction will be led by Gobumi as the Chief Provider. And the underworld faction will be led by Gobukena as the Lord's Shadow." I declared to my people.

Multiple notifications flooded me and the dilemma of having to name both my legion and my territory came to the forefront.

Having chosen, I announced my decision to everyone and then moved on the next topic.
"Gobumi, you will work with Complexia to try and locate a salt rock cave deeper into the Ragnild Goblin cave. If you need any extra help, go to Goburia. Report to me once you have results." I command.
The girls left with the members of their faction with the exception of Gobukena and the rest of the underworld faction, who will be initially trained by me.
"The first thing all you have to understand is that unlike the members of the combat faction, your direct combat prowess is secondary. Your mastery must be in the concealment of your presence and the use of various tools, such as poison, throwing knives, daggers, short swords, smoke bombs, gas bombs, and so on. All of that will in some way be related to your main focus in combat, to conceal yourself and use that to your advantage. To do so, you must first understand the art of distraction. Unless you use magic or some special ability, you will be unable to conceal yourself from an enemy that is focused on you, thus you must understand how to properly divert attention from yourselves even without the use of tools." I explained as the knowledge from my assassin job flowed in my mind. Some of them seemed confused but most seemed to have understood.
"As an example, I want you all to think of me as an enemy" They seemed to have some aversion and fear towards the idea but ultimately accepted it as my order.
"Now I want you to pay attention to this rock in my hand." As I said they all looked at the rock, and as expected it will take some work before they start thinking more independently.
I then flipped the rock and they all had their attention on it.

Pov- Gobukena
A few days ago, I was trying to get food and hunt with some other goblins but they got killed by horned rabbits and it was all so fast, that before I knew I was already running away for my life. It's all because I'm too weak!!
Having survived that I didn't really want to go against horned rabbits that much anymore so I just stuck to gathering berries, nuts, and bugs to survive.
When I got back to the cave, I saw one of the other girls in my group, I think her name was Gobumi or something like that and she was talking to a really scary girl that was doing some crazy stuff the other day. She even said age would make a team with us, but today when I got close to listen to the conservation.
"I'm sorry girls, but I don't really need you in my party anymore. But don't be discouraged, you might get a chance to get in later. It's just not a good moment now. Good luck, hope you don't die."
Just like that, our hope of maybe doing better left us. From that day on we had to survive on bugs and berries if we got lucky and go to bed with an empty stomach if we didn't.
Then one day.
"Hey girls! Remember me? So, I need two more goblins to join our group so that we can hunt on a larger scale and I thought, how about those two? So, what do you say?"
Of course, we want! We immediately said yes! Goburia and her group were very popular for being the best of our generation, and despite being only three they would hunt more and better than all the rest. Becoming part of their group was basically a dream!
After accepting we were introduced to the other two members of the group and it was my first time seeing him from so close. The pink-haired goblin was the most handsome goblin I have ever seen. No wonder the others were always talking about him... He even has better hair than me, unlike the other male goblins who are all bald. Then to my surprise, Goburia asked him for permission to let us into the party, which made me wonder, why?! Isn't she stronger than him? Was he that strong?! OMG! If he's that strong isn't he the perfect goblin? I want to be strong like them so bad!!!
We went hunting and me and Gobumi were told to run with the horned rabbit. I was scared and didn't really want to, but I refuse they would just throw me out, not that!
The horned rabbits were running with us and then one of them jumped at me and I was so scared that I couldn't move and closed my eyes, but nothing happened. When opened my eyes the pink-haired goblin had already killed them, then he looked at me and Gobumi who were both on the ground.
Ouch! He! He hit me in my head! Why?! That hurts! He also hit Gobumi and said.
"Are you two retarded?! You would have died if I didn't go out of my way to save you! You can't just stand there and wait for death! You know what! Get your asses up! We'll do this until you stop acting like lil bitches and don't think I'll save you again! Now!"
My body moved on its own and I just got up and did whatever he said, he's actually scarier than Goburia! He made us dodge attacks of horned rabbit at the last second for 4 HOURS! I thought I would DIE! Even when we begged him to let us rest he only got rougher.
After that, I was too scared of angering Boss to mess up and I think it was similar for Gobumi.
Then it was a rainy day and Boss told Goburia to train us and honestly Goburia's training was nice when compared to how evil Boss was.
When we were done, the Boss just appeared out of nowhere, and even Goburia didn't notice him at all. How is Boss so strong?! I definitely have to work my hardest to be strong like him!
After another day of hunting without Boss, the next day, he was much taller and even Stronger! How?! He killed three goblins with one punch each! What kind of monster can just kill others with one punch?! Boss is definitely the strongest ever!
He took over the cave as expected of Boss. The day ended with us having to do something the Boss called an aptitude test to decide what faction we'll be part of, whatever that means.
The next day, Boss called me and made me the leader of the underworld faction! I even got a fancy name like Lord's Shadow! Now Boss himself will train me! Yes! I'll definitely be the strongest that way! Then I won't be afraid and run away again!
Boss ordered everyone to pay attention to a rock in his hand, and so I did as he flipped it. Then I felt a sharp coldness pressing on my neck and shivers down my spine, as his presence became evident to me and a towering pressure was all that stood. I can't move! I'll die if I move!
"Just now, I could have killed all of you with just that simple distraction. The moment I told you to view me as an enemy, you should have stopped taking my words as orders. Now, we'll start with some basic exercises and trickery lessons."
The blade was moved away from my neck and I could finally sigh in relief, letting myself take in the fact that I'm alive.
It was as merciless as would be expected from Boss. The lessons continued and I almost died at least 40 times! I feel like I'm being targeted more than all the others, I don't know if I should be happy or cry about this favoritism. Shouldn't you get benefits when you're the favorite? All I got was extra pain.
He gave us some exercises to practice on our own before leaving. Whatever! If I really want to be stronger, I have to work harder than the others!

Pov- Gobumo/Mc
Once I was done teaching the underworld faction, I decided it was time to take care of my family drama or whatever this is supposed to be.
Not long after I was in the breeding area of the cave, a place I had avoided since being born in this world. I don't know about how other people would feel in my current predicament, but to me, she is my biological mother, and I can't just ignore that, but she's also not someone I would risk my life for, even so, now that I can, it would be rather jerkish of me to not at least try to help. That aside, the best I can do for her is help her kill my biological father in this life. While I don't really want to involve myself with him, it's unavoidable since he forced himself on a woman that now hates him and so happened to give birth to me, in a way you could say that this is a form of karma for his actions, not that it matters anyway.
As i got there and saw the six women all tattered up and dressed in rags, some of them clearly pregnant and all of them with empty eyes and harshly weakened bodies. It was as expected a rather grim image to witness with your very own two eyes, and I could feel pity towards them, but I don't think I would do much about it if one of them weren't my biological mother. The most I would do for them would be give them the option to drink poison and then let Goburia have them. Man, I'm truly a piece of shit sometimes, oh well, there's no use in thinking about what ifs, I know what I want to do in my current situation.
Aside from keeping the captives in this place, it was also storage of sorts, having all kinds of loot the goblins pillaged in here. They truly were broken to the point where despite probably having the means to escape right next to them, they didn't...
Moving past them I looked at a big crater in the center of the 'room' if you can call it that, and inside there were a few pieces of rusty and badly conditioned equipment together with what I was looking for, potions. What I intend to use to help the captive women. I've already made it clear to the other goblins that they can't come here and 'do' them anymore.
So what's left is to try and heal them physically and hope their mental state doesn't lead them to make bad decisions that they will most likely regret.

All the 11 potions I found were of low grade, meaning they are not good enough to help these women. It seems I'll have to think of something else and if nothing comes to mind, I'll just let them have the poison. For now, I'll put them under Complexia's care.
Having come to that conclusion, I left the six women and went to my spot, to finally do what I've been postponing since I became a hobgoblin, look at my status and check what new abilities and maybe even blessings, I have.
