"Are you alright Erena?" Elliot instantly stood up and held her shoulders looking over her for any signs of injury.
"Sorry. My hands slipped" Rain quickly came back to her senses and answered.
"It's fine. It's human to make mistakes. Don't worry about it. I will get someone to clean this up you go and check if you got injured anywhere" Elliot pushed Rain towards the attached washroom in the office.
Jay had just reached the office door when this happened. When Elliot's words about human making mistakes reached his ears, he sobbed and complained inwardly 'talk about double standards boss. I think miss Erena is the only one allowed to make mistakes around you. Mr. Li Yang is right. You are a gone case now.' He shook his head and came out of the office to find someone to clean up the mess.
Elliot finally heaved a sigh of relief when he saw that Rain was fine, but he still confirmed it with her again and again because he knew that Rain does not feel pain to know even if she was injured.
Unable to take his naggings, Rain showed him her legs to show that he was not injured. Rain had worn the typical office outfit which included a pant, shirt and a blazer over. She always wore pants, so when Elliot had look, he could only see her foot.
When Elliot looked over, he felt a tinge of pain in his heart. Sure enough, there was a slight redness on her left ankle which Rain had not noticed. He finally understood what Li Yang meant when he said that the inability to feel pain was a curse. He immediately called Li Yang to give Rain a check-up.
With no other option, Li Yang had come to his friend's aid leaving a half-opened body on his post-mortem table.
After giving Rain a check-up in the room attached to Elliot's office, Li Yang gave her an ointment to apply on the burnt areas and took a seat in front of Elliot.
Elliot asked worried, "She is not scalded seriously, right?" Rain had gone back to her workstation by now.
"She will be fine. Don't underestimate my capabilities." Then he looked at his friend and asked, "Elliot, what do you feel about Erena? Tell me the truth." Li Yang turned serious.
Elliot went silent for a moment on hearing his friend's question, imploring his mind about his feelings. After mulling over it for a while, he finally answered, taking a deep breath "I don't know. I cannot tell for now. But I am sure that I have never felt this way before. My heart just crave to stay by her side every second and i have a nagging feeling that this feeling won't go away that soon. Like it's going to stay with me for a long time."
Li Yang smiled on hearing his friend's honest answer and patted Elliot's shoulder, "Good luck buddy. You know that I will be by your side as always, cheering you up, right?".
A faint smile broke into Elliot's lips, "I know."
On his way back, Li Yang took his phone out and dialled a number. The call was not answered, just as he had expected. He dialled the same number again to be greeted by the same result again. Then he opened his text message and quickly sent a short message. The message read, 'I know the truth about Miss Erena' and as expected, he received a call the next second, with the same number.
"What did you find out?" a cold voice came.
"About her Analgesia." Replied Li Yang honestly. Then he asked "Dr. Rishi, who on the earth is Erena? Where did she come from? What happened to her in the past?"
Dr. Rishi took a deep breath and answered "I am not the right person to divulge the answers to these questions Li Yang. For some things, it's better if you don't know."
Li Yang already knew that he would not get an answer to his questions, but still, he asked as if to lift a burden in his heart. He questioned again, " Then, just tell me one thing. Does the old man know all about her? Can she be trusted? You can at least tell me this." He pleaded. He could at least confirm this much for his friend before it was too late to retreat.
Creation is hard, cheer me up!
