章 13: Chapter 13: Two Days Away

Adeline’s POV

The sun was just beginning to rise above the horizon. A cool breeze whips across my face, and I closed my eyes, reveling in the feeling.

It’s way too early to be awake. I much prefer a sleep-in. But Leona and Zale were leaving for Chicago any minute now. I thought it best to see them off, despite how displeased I was that I would be left here for two days without Zale.

This ‘fake mate’ deal we agreed on is slowly becoming harder to manage as each day passed. I wasn’t expecting to have to compete with Leona for a guy I have a deal with. I was naïve enough to think that this deal would be easy and without complications. To my surprise, it’s anything but. Having to deal with Zale’s unwelcoming family and best friend who is in love with him is making this harder than I anticipated.
