Edith fell with the sound of flapping wings.
She hit solid ground within moments, and heard several other dull thuds nearby. As she lay, trying to regain her breath, she felt the earth below her, damp and covered with moss. Edith opened her eyes, and had to blink several times before she realized it was rather dark. A deep grey sky, with pale, bare trees, and grass the color of pioneer ink, lay before her. The moon was huge and bright. Edith slowly began to stand up, looking around for her friends. She found them nearby, slowly beginning to move.
“What the…,” Lewis stood in shock. “Where are we?”
Edith sighed, trying to gain the nerve to even speak. She finally did when Lewis dropped his gaze from the imposing moon to her face.
“This is another realm, a different dimension.”
