Ava and Julie were seated at home watching a movie and eating steaks. There was a knock on the door. Ava, who was lying on her sister's thighs got up and got the door.
She didn't see anyone. She looked left and right but still couldn't see anyone. Just as she was about to close the door, she noticed something on the floor in front of the door. It looked more like a parcel in a box.
Ava is wondering who dropped it there or where it came from.
"Who's at the door?" Julie asked her in a loud voice as she was chewing the last piece of steak in her hand.
"No one." Ava replied as she closed the door and got to where her sister was seated. She dropped the box on the table.
"What's that? What's in there?" Julie asked Ava with curiosity as she got up and sat well.
"Well…I can't tell until it's opened." Ava replied as she stared at the box.
"Where did it come from?" Julie asked.
"I found it at the door." Ava replied.
"Then open it and let's see what's inside. It looks huge." Julie replied back excitedly.
"Are you sure about this?" Ava asked as she was unsure.
"It belongs to us, yes? Wasn't it at our door?" Julie asked without waiting any minute.
"Yeah…"
"Then what are you waiting for? Let's see what's in there." Julie said excitedly as she watched Ava open the package.
"What's that?" Julie asked as Ava picked up sealed leather.
"It looks like…a dress?" Ava replied.
"Well then rip it open!" Julie excitedly said.
Ava opened it and lo and behold, it was a beautiful dress! Julie's excitement couldn't be contained as she screamed.
"Oh my goodness…keep going, keep going. What's in the other package?" Julie asked as she scattered the contents of the big box. There was a pair of shoes in it too, a bracelet and a phone. That was the end of it. Julie was so happy as she began to try them on.
"Do you know where all these are from?" Ava asked Julie.
"Of course! It's from no one else other than Jason." Julie said with pride in her voice.
"Jason? But why would he do that? I mean…isn't it too early for such gifts? We just met a few days ago…" Ava tried to reason it out but Julie snapped her out of it.
"Look, I know you are speechless but don't worry, we'll thank him later. Now come and try this on, let's see how gorgeous you look in them." Julie said to Ava as she pulled her but Ava was hesitant. Just as she stood up, a letter fell from the box cover.
It caught Ava's attention as she picked it up. She looked at Julie who was already trying out the dress and shoes. She opened it carefully and read its contents.
"My dear wife to be," On reading the first line, Ava's face lit up with a smile as she thought it was Jason who wrote the letter to her. She continued to read its contents with a smiling face.
"I'm sorry for breaking this news to you this way but we are getting married in the next seven days. I'll send your wedding clothes on the fourth day." Ava's heart skipped a beat.
"So soon and he wants to make me his? Wow…have i really found the perfect man for me?" Ava thought in her heart as her eyes got heavy with tears. She continued to read the letter.
"Lots of love from your darling husband, Sebastian Debanka." On seeing the name, her heart skipped a beat. She looked into the letter again to be sure that she saw right. The tears that had filled her eyes flowed down her cheeks.
Julie turned to get the belt of the dress when she noticed Ava in tears. She dropped the clothes and went closer to her.
"Hey darling, what's wrong? Why are you crying instead of being happy or are these years of joy? Do you want me to call Jason for you?" Julie asked her sister in a concerned state. Ava turned to look at her as her tears turned to whimpers then she showed her the letter.
"What is it? You are scaring me." Julie said to her as she collected the letter and read through it.
"What? What is this supposed to mean? Sebastian? Why is this bastard still hanging around us? What is his problem? Wait…don't tell me all these presents are from him?" Julie exclaimed in anger as she began to take them off.
"Are these presents your problem right now?" Ava asked in tears.
"No sweetheart…but…I don't understand. Why does he want to even marry you or think of doing such a thing? That man is old enough to be our father! Haven't you paid all the money?" Julie asked her sister.
"I did…I did Julie I did…" Ava said as she cried.
"Is there something that you are not telling me? What was your last discussion with him? Did he tell you that he was going to do this?" Julie asked her sister as she was trying to be more protective of her.
"No…he didn't tell me anything…he only told me that he won't collect his money…that he wanted me…" Ava cried harder on her sister's lap.
"When did that happen and why didn't you tell me that he said that?" Julie asked her sister as she was surprised.
"The same day that I returned his money to him." Ava cried.
"What else happened?" Julie asked Ava.
"He tried to rape me…" Ava cried harder.
"What? Why didn't you tell me? What else have you been hiding from me? What on Earth were you thinking not to have told me about that?" Julie yelled at her sister in anger for keeping such things away from her.
"I'm sorry…I just wanted to handle things by myself…I didn't want to drag you into it that's why and I thought he won't ever disturb us again." Ava cried.
"And now he is doing just that! So tell me, did he succeed in raping you? Tell me what happened that night!" Julie screamed at her sister.
"No he didn't…a man saved me from him." Ava cried as she told the truth.
"A man?" Julie asked her sister. She was getting more confused now.
