章 65: Chapter 65- A Public Enemy
(A/N: Do imagine that Yue'er didn't just introduce one line of text for every item, I just skimmed it down cause I can't be bothered .3.)
A few more items passed by after the first. Most of them are overbid due to a certain someone having fun.
The 7th item soon came after the murmurs of the crowd died down. Yue'er motioned to the same attendant as she came forward bringing another item.
Yue'er opened the clear dome and introduced, "The next item will be an Earth ascension pill! An item to increase the odds to reach the famed Earth Realm! The starting bid will be 500 gold coins with increments of 50!" She enthusiastically exclaimed.
Bits and pieces of murmurs spread across the room. Most of these attendees are already above earth realm cultivators, meaning its demand would only be for those who have disciples and children. Even then it's still a rare commodity for groups of cultivators who are clanless.
Bids after bids started going one after the another as they tried to acquire the item, and, after the first encouragement, Yue'er's attention.
"600 gold coins"
"700 gold coins!"
"750 gold coins"
"1500 gold coins!" Old Man Ale immediately exclaimed, a bit frantically even, as he doubled the bid.
His head, now free of veins, after he got back from paying but his face still flushed, indicating his excitement.
Long Ren saw this and snickered. The old man probably already regarded him as a life's enemy, might as well go ham on it.
The old man clearly showed his desire for those pills, a dumb move. As for Long Ren? He already had a few from the system.
And if there's anything Long Ren remembered from those novels he read before, pills have purity and the system should provide him with the best…probably.
Either way, whether he needed those pills or not, he will have his fun.
After a while, the bid had raised itself into 2 diamonds, courtesy of old man Ale. He harrumphed as he felt happy. No one seemed to contest him anymore.
Though, bits of his face still showed an expression of worry, glancing back and forth between room 15 and the podium.
"How far will you push him?" Yun Ning asked.
Long Ren shrugged, "Depends, maybe 500 golds first?" He said. He then took the bidding runestone into his palm.
"Room number 15 bids 2 diamond 500 golds!!!" Yue'er exclaimed, genuinely happy someone like Long Ren decided to start a bidding war.
As unethical as it is, more money means more money. As long as it wasn't someone from her auction house, no one could complain, and she sure as hell won't.
Old man Ale fumed in anger as he stared at Long Ren's room. Long Ren on the other hand, enjoyed his act as the pretentious young master of an overlord clan that he is, laughing ever so slightly.
Yun Ning only followed his small laugh. Although she felt a bit bad for old man Ale, it was just it. A bit bad. They weren't even acquaintances, after all.
She wouldn't do this personally, but, as long as her Long Ren had his fun, it's a-okay.
Old man Ale pointed his finger at Long Ren's room, disregarding his manners. He fumed, huffing and puffing, much to the crowd's entertainment.
Long Ren chuckled, "Huh huh, He hates me now. I don't think anyone ever holds as much grudge as him towards me."
As much as Long Ren enjoyed pissing people off, having the person being openly pissed at him like this is a bit too crude. He'd rather see them contain their anger while letting some out rather than gush everything out.
Old man Ale gritted his teeth as he called out, "2 diamond 550 golds!"
Yue'er stated his bid while Long Ren pondered whether to increase it once more…
"Room 15 bids 3 diamonds!" Yue'er happily exclaimed once more.
Old man Ale immediately palmed his face hard. His face grimaced. As much as he wants to just let Long Ren pay for this overpriced item, he really can't let it go.
Not to mention, deliberately making a VIP overbid, even when one did not initiate it, may cause some problems.
Let's just say, a couple of cultivators suddenly disappearing overnight isn't really such a rare occurrence.
"Once more, 3 diamonds 50 gold from Old Man Ale!" Yue'er repeated Old Man Ale's bid as He quickly looked back at room 15, a dark expression etched on his face.
Long Ren laughed wryly, "He's actually gonna kill me here if I bid more,". Long Ren finally let the pills go as Yue'er closed Old Man Ale as the winner.
He didn't feel like he won, he felt like a puppet, dancing on someone's command, and there was nothing he could do to change that.
'Alas, such is the cruel way of this dreaded world…even after all my harsh life, I still need to bow to them,' Old man Ale thought as he went back to the payment room.
On the way there, he kept glaring at room 15. As much as he knew glaring would only make the situation worse, he could not help but hold a grudge. A grudge he could never complete.
'No matter, as long as she gets another chance at life and broke through…every single coin would be well worthed," He mumbled under his breath, his eyes now burned with will and hope, 'Maybe then, this and every other grudge shall be paid," He looked back at room 15 for one last time and left the auction hall. Two items in hand and one hope for the future.
While all that happened, the oblivious long ren and Yun Ning sipped and enjoyed the tea long ren made. Although the complementary tea is nice, he had better.
The house auctioned off a few more items and, all in all, in 13 items, long ren had made them about an extra 10 diamonds, with the largest amount coming from Old Man Ale, much to the guy's dismay.
It might not seem much, but it's also not honest work, though, it is still nice, especially since it's free.
Private room number 15 had become a public enemy, at least to the public crowd.
Those in VIP and private room sections could not care less about these beginning courses. If he showed intentions of doing so with VIPs as well, then they might have a problem.
Though, most of the crowd only joined in on chanting long ren as a public enemy, as those who really thought so are only the bidders.
The rest of them were just here to have fun, and long ren provided exactly that.
He's become the public enemy, yet at the same time, the public hero. How ironic
