He built the present Wexnon, yet his father didn't understand his effort. You tore the badge from your formal attire. It was not merely a Duke rank for you, but a pride for you," she stated.
Édouard heard her keenly. Only she understood him completely after his mother. The rank of the duke was his pride and he had put a lot of hard work behind it to gain territory from his father.
However, Charlotte was his pride too. He didn't even want to imagine her being on her knees.
"Charlotte, you should not have begged Matilda even if it was for me," Édouard asserted. "She will bring trouble if she continues to stay here. I wanted her to leave," he muttered and clenched his jaw.
