Just then she noticed a group of students, including some of Zhang Fu's close acquaintances, gathered in hushed conversation near the entrance.

Gu Jin approached them and stood on one side as if she was playing with her phone.

One of the students, a tall boy named Cheng Wei, was speaking animatedly. "I still can't believe it. Zhang Fu was perfectly fine, and then he just disappeared. One minute he was talking about his new spell and the next, he was gone."

A girl named Xue Lan nodded, her eyes wide with worry.

"The last time anyone saw him was near that remote construction area on the edge of the academy. It's like he vanished into thin air."
