He watched from a distance how the two interacted as they walked around the garden. From his vantage point, standing outside his balcony, he could see how his son acted entranced with the young lady at his side. 

He could not help but wonder if his son had chosen to ignore his warnings. Was he convinced that the young girl was his daughter? But how could he even deny the truth when the proof was evident?

Luisa was his grandchild. He might not have believed it when he learned of her existence and when she was born. But now, he could see the resemblance in their features. 

"Are you sure you know what you are doing, Dad?" A voice that was full of doubt spoke behind him.

She walked beside him and watched with him the scene below. This time, they saw Annette march closer to her father. They observed in silence what transpired in the garden, unable to hear the conversation.
