Ezra and Mateo woke up at midnight simultaneously. The first thing that they noticed was the white ceiling and the dimly lit lights and then each other. There was no memory of what had happened to them but they found it difficult to move their limbs. 

They couldn't recognize where they were either because seeing each other in the same room and having medical equipment strapped on them and around them was not something that they had thought of happening before. 

Ezra opened his mouth to speak but no words made its way out and he closed it back up. His throat was hoarse and dry. He sighed. It means that they both could not communicate with each other and find out how they ended up in the same closed place such as this room where they found themselves.
