Wednesday, 22ND OCTOBER 1192
In the late evening, the chapel had fallen silent with the conclusion of the Vesper prayers (evening prayer). The monks had returned to their dorms.
Brother Philemon stood outside the confessional box inside the monastery. His breath reeked of altar wine. He had helped himself to several cups in order to get the courage to come for confession.
His spirit was troubled by the actions he had just set in motion. Only by talking to a priest and having his sins heard, and forgiven; will be at ease. HE choose this late hour because it was the time when Abbot Jeromy took over from the other priests to hear confessions. Only Abbot Jeromy could understand the sins he had committed and offer him the forgiveness he needed.
Brother Philemon heard some sound of the Confessional box being opened from inside. It meant that Abbot Jeromy was now inside, ready to receive the confession of the monks in the monastery.
