Serena felt her heart lurch with Charlton's plain admittance. His words and the expression on his face strummed her heartstrings and made every cell in her body tremble. Yearning. At that moment, it hit her so hard that she had to use every bit of her willpower to remain standing on her position. 

Charlton could see every minute changes in Serena's expression and he knew that now was the time for him to take advantage of her vulnerability.
