章 71: Chapter 71: Afternoon tea party I

13th of July 23rd year of Edward V's reign

It was Saturday midafternoon and Serena was standing amongst the ladies of the ton inside the drawing room of the Cross ducal mansion for the afternoon tea party duchess Cross was hosting.

Serena smiled as she absently nodded her head to something one of the ladies fawning over her said. Then, as she has been doing the past week, her eyes subconsciously drifted towards the door where the arriving guests were supposed to enter. Yes, the party has already began a few minutes back but who knows if there were late comers?

After doing it a couple of times, Serena inwardly sighed. What was she doing? She already told herself the other day that she won't do it anymore. But there she was. Really, that should be the last time.
