A/N: ACTUALLY IMPORTANT NOTICE, aight so final exams start on the 27th of April and end on the 25th of May. So, yk, I won't be doing much writing. In fact, this took so long cause I been busy revising. Anyways, back to the chap
A/N: Off topic but Lookism is so good bro, everyone in that Manhwa is so cold for no reason at all, its acc peak. Top 3 manhwa oat.
I looked at our homeroom teacher. Even without using my Demonic Eyes, I knew something almost instinctively. He was strong. If my memory served me right, then he was the only teacher who could use Dark Magic. Meaning that he was just like me.
But, there was something about this man that wasn't mentioned in the novel. It was his degree of perfection. He seemed to be a martial artist. A perfected one at that. His posture allowed him to get into a variety of stances with ease, the angle at which his neck was held maximized his field of vision, and he was also rather well built.
He was an older man, perhaps in his later forties or his early fifties? He had gray hair and a rather well kept beard, his eyes were a light shade of brown. Like I said before, he had a lot of muscle mass as he had likely been training for years and years on end.
As I looked at him, I realized something. He was a monstrous fighter. Although the number of people stronger than me wasn't small at all, it should be noted that he was a part of that group. He also might be a part of the group of people who I deemed to be skilled as fighters. In fact, he might rival... me.
"I am going to be your homeroom teacher, if you have any questions then please ask. My name is Alexander Ashford. I specialize in hand to hand combat and I am a Dark Attribute Mage. I am also rather proficient with most orthodox weapons. So if you have questions pertaining to anything to do with what I have just said, please ask either during homeroom or when you see me during the day."
He glanced at me momentarily, as if trying to direct what he was saying at me.
"You've all chosen your subjects and have been given your time tables, you may chat with each other until your first class begins."
Hand to hand combat? How long had it been since I used nothing but my bare hands?
In this world, martial arts like Judo, Aikido, Karate, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Systema, and whatnot all existed.
I've learnt those martial arts from looking at my fellow soldiers, you see, back in my old world I wasn't 'taught' how to fight. In fact, I've never really been taught anything, I've always just copied what I've seen and created new movements. And after copying it, I performed the movements.
But with this body, I could do something beyond copying... I could perfect the movements. This body was perfect after all and people didn't understand perfection until they'd seen it. I didn't know that bodies could actually be this amazing. My bones, my ligaments, my tendons, and my muscles were all capable of taking any martial arts to their peak.
My body wasn't just strong, it was flexible. I could also control this body quite well, I could even control my eyes separately… I'm also ambidextrous.
Normally, the human body couldn't physically perform perfect movements as it places an immense strain on the body. But now, I could perform the ideal movements that I could only dream of previously.
"Now that everyone's settled down, I'm going to tell you that soon, you first years will have a sort of group activity. You will not receive any further information from us teachers."
'The very first thing that they try to teach students is not the basic theory, not how to control their Mana better or anything else either. They instead show you how important actual combat skills and strategies are and that you can't always rely on Mana, Runes, Bloodlines, Physiques, or anything of the sort. All they would have is their own bodies, their minds and some weapons.'
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Angelica using every available braincell to try and figure out what this activity could be.
"Head to class now, don't be late."
I then stayed seated, that was because my next class would be with my homeroom teacher.
Close Quarters Combat. It was one of the most popular classes. Honestly, this school couldn't teach me a huge amount aside from stuff related to Magic. So this class served only for me to gain an understanding of everyone else's martial art skills.
Once everyone was here, the teacher led us into a training hall. There were many training halls, and if a teacher had a practical lesson planned, he could book a hall and have certain bits of equipment brought in. Of course there's always some spare rooms for spars and things that don't need a particular bit of equipment.
There was a wide selection of weapons in the room.
This first lesson was to gauge our combat abilities, there's two main reasons to gauge our levels. The first and most obvious one is for them to understand where we're at and what we need to be taught. The second is to figure out our combat abilities for the group activity.
In the group activity, those who have technical skill, strategic minds, and well built bodies have the best advantages. That's because of a certain 'condition' that rendered a lot of things impossible to use.
But, in 'that' environment, I would quite honestly thrive.
But I had other things to worry about, like how I should handle this. You know, since I was going to pretend that I was weak, I could probably get away with just being highly skilled.
We were told that we'd just spar for today. When we were being paired up, I was told to fight Artorius by the teacher.
"Under no circumstances may you use any abilities. If you have some sort of physique, hold back as much as possible."
People with Physiques couldn't just turn their Physiques off like Mages could with Mana. But, we could hold back a lot. There weren't a lot of faces that I recognised in this class. The only two that I knew were Leon and Artorius.
Of course, other Close Quarters Combat classes were running in different rooms. That's because in a lot of classes, such as this one, it was impractical to teach too many at once.
As I was fighting Artorius, it was only right to face him with a sword.
I need to be very careful about my consciousness, according to Irene, I can fight without being conscious. If I get knocked out, there's no telling what I might do, in my old world, I've had episodes where I've fought people while being in a sort of gray area between being conscious and unconscious. In that state, I'm sort of the best version of myself.
It's the 'flow' state. Like when athletes enter the 'Zone.' I don't exactly know how to activate it on command though, and even if I did, it was too risky. After all, I was not sure if I'd be able to distinguish friend and foe in that state. When I last fought like that, I solely acted on instinct to achieve my goal.
I readied my sword, as did Artorius. The entire class turned to face us and the teacher didn't seem to care. All eyes were on Artorius, all aside from one.
The teacher was looking directly at me from behind, of course, I could only tell due to the ability that I had developed when I was blind.
"Begin, and like I said, do not use Mana or anything of the sort. If it gets dangerous, I'll intervene."
