章 31: Chapter 31 Powerhouse

"Why?" Ciara asked.

"Ciara, are you always this stubborn?" Arnold asked perplexed.

"I refuse to move an inch from here if you don't tell me what's going on" Ciara protested.

Arnold sighed heavily and looked at Cindy who stood quietly, not far from Ciara. He knew they were two sisters with one mind. Even though, Cindy looked composed on the outside, he knew her heart was in turmoil, just as Ciara's.

"Listen, ladies. There's this group of dangerously powerful people"

"The powerhouse?" Cindy asked surprisingly interrupting Arnold's explanation.

"Yes, the powerhouse" Arnold replied nodding, utterly shocked Cindy knew about them.

"Ok. Ciara, let's get moving." Cindy said as she dragged Ciara along with her.

"What's powerhouse? Mitochondrion? or what are you talking about?" Ciara asked perplexed.

"We'll talk, once we're out of here" Cindy replied.

Arnold watched as they disappeared into their room. He quietly walked towards Kelly's room.

"Mum, I have to move the twins out of here as soon as possible" Arnold told Kelly in haste.

"Please do" Kelly replied cautiously.

"I have to leave now. Samuel is only a call away, just in case you need anything. Take care" Arnold said and hurriedly kissed her goodbye. Just before Arnold walked out of her room, Kelly asked;

"You haven't forgotten about your promise, right?" trying hard to keep her composure.

"Never. Not even a second" Arnold replied honestly.

"Thank you. I'm counting on you" Kelly said wearing a broad smile. Arnold only nodded and left.

"Wait Cindy! Tell me what's happening before we leave this room" Ciara demanded.

"Listen,Ciara. This is not the time for that. If you don't believe Arnold at least believe me" Cindy replied dejectedly.

"I'm sorry Cindy. But i still want to know "

Cindy sighed heavily, looked at Ciara and clenched her fist in utter desperation.

"The powerhouse, well even its name explains itself. It's more like a group, no group is an understatement. It's a network of people with special abilities, one we call super powers. Their members normally consist of wealthy individuals, intelligent and smart criminals and other species you would think exist only in myths."

"Like werewolves and vampires?" Ciara asked suddenly intrigued.

"Yes, and a lot more" Cindy replied.

"Why are they coming after us?" Ciara asked trying to figure out what exactly was happening.

"They had a very protective, and effectively secured system. But i hacked it. Do you get it now? I did something i shouldn't have. They want me dead!" Cindy replied in fear.

"You never told me about that. Why?" Ciara asked

"Because I was afraid. And i still am"

"We need to leave now" Ciara said as she pulled her sister along with her.

Arnold seemed a little surprised when he saw Ciara rushing towards him. He had wanted to find out what happened but he knew more than anyone, they had very little time. He opened the door for the twins, they hurriedly sat in the car and he drove off.

"Mum, are you alright?" Raymond asked as he looked worriedly at Mary ,who in turn kept casting worried glances at her environment.

"I'm good. Just a little nervous. You know, Anthony is another word for 'trouble' in my dictionary. That boy keeps getting on my nerves. I'm worried he might hurt Aida." Mary replied honestly.

"Aida is alright. She's safe for now. Mum, we have to leave now. I have to move you to a safer place. The earlier the better"

"Alright, let me get a few of my belongings" Mary said and dashed to her room. Few minutes later, she walked out of her room with a suitcase. Raymond hurriedly took the suitcase and placed it at the trunk of his car as Mary locked the main door. After closing the trunk of the car, Raymond went ahead to help Mary get in the car and drove off immediately. They travelled in silence for a few minutes before Mary broke the silence;

"You're a shape shifter, aren't you?"
