Seeing the Matriarch walk in, Axel went to greet her "Matriarch Selene, now that we are not in the middle of a battle, we can talk" stated Axel as he and the Matriarch shook hands. "I'm sure you know who I am"
"Yes, Emperor Axel. Your reputation precedes you," Matriarch Selene replied, as the exhaustion was evident in her eyes. "I must express my deepest gratitude for your timely intervention. Thessia was on the brink of falling."
Axel nodded, pulling up the holographic display showing the ongoing battle across the planet. "This fight will be quite a short one, Matriarch. Already we have been able to locate and rescue tens of thousands of Asari civilians and soldiers, and as the hours pass by, those numbers will keep increasing."
Matriarch Selene studied the holographic display intently, her eyes widening as she took in the scale of the Ascendency's intervention. Thousands of blue dots representing Ascendency forces were steadily pushing back the red Reaper signatures across Thessia's surface.
"It's... incredible," she breathed. "In mere hours, you've accomplished what we couldn't in days."
"The Reapers are a formidable foe, but the Ascendency's true power before. Our technology and tactics are beyond their comprehension."
He zoomed in on a particular sector where a group of Titans were decimating a Reaper stronghold. "As we speak, we're clearing out the last pockets of resistance. By tomorrow, Thessia will be secure."
Selene's expression was a mixture of relief and concern. "And what happens after? The Reapers won't stop with just Thessia. They're a threat to the entire galaxy."
"Indeed," Axel replied, his eyes never leaving the holographic display. "Which is why we're not stopping here. This is just the beginning Matriarch. The Ascendency has plans far beyond just liberating Thessia."
Axel tapped a few controls, and the holographic display expanded to show the entire galaxy. Glowing markers highlighted various systems and planets. "We've already dispatched fleets to other key worlds," he explained. "Palaven, Sur'Kesh, even Illium. The Reapers thought they could divide and conquer; we'll prove them wrong and use their tactics against them."
Selene's eyes widened as she took in the scale of the operation. "You mean to say you're fighting on multiple fronts across the galaxy simultaneously?"
Axel nodded. "The Ascendency's resources are vast, Matriarch. What you've seen here on Thessia is but a fraction of our true strength."
The fleet that and 5 billion soldiers that Axel brought with him, were split to fight on numerous fronts and secure key locations from control of Reaper forces. Other species' homeworlds were the first target as they were the most populated places within the Galaxy.
From there, they would spread to the nearby systems, exterminating any Reaper forces that they find and securing control of those systems. AI controlled fortresses would be set up to make sure that those systems can resist any more Reaper forces that try to attack.
Meanwhile back in the Halo galaxy, anti-war Senators found themselves slowly losing their support, as images and videos of the war in the other galaxy were posted by the AIA on their official HoloNet feeds. The public sentiment was shifting rapidly in favor of the war effort as citizens across the Ascendency witnessed the horrors inflicted by the Reapers. And after hearing of their emperor fighting on the frontlines with only 5 billion soldiers had caused protests to break out.
Those anti-war senators tried to counter this information by spreading their own false information, claiming Axel to have taken those 5 billion soldiers to fight against their will. They released edited footage of Axel slapping the Senator on Requiem while claiming that he will do whatever he wanted to do because he was the emperor.
This was countered by the AIA who in turn released the entire footage from the beginning when Axel addressed his soldiers, to the end when they left the planet.
Now the Senate was being accused of spreading misinformation and undermining the emperor's efforts to save billions of lives. Public opinion swiftly turned against the anti-war faction, with citizens across the Ascendency calling for their immediate resignation.
In response to this, the anti-war faction which was made up of Senators who did not like Axel because of his past actions, had used what little power they had to gain leverage on other Senators. They wanted to use this leverage to try and create an arrest warrant against Axel and his family before they were forced to approve sending more soldiers to fight.
However, their plan didn't gain much progress. Every Senator that was involved as well as every Senator a part of the anti-war faction was arrested by agents of the AIA under charges of treason and conspiracy against the emperor. This action had sent shockwaves throughout the political landscape of the Ascendency.
As news of the arrests spread, public support for Axel and the war effort soared to unprecedented levels. Citizens across the empire rallied behind their Emperor, organizing massive demonstrations in support of sending more troops to aid in the fight against the Reapers.
Back on Thessia, Axel received word of the developments in the Senate. A small smile appeared across his face as that was one less thing he would need to deal with once the war was over.
Within the next two days, the Senate had approved sending more soldiers to the other galaxy to fight the Reapers. Axel had ordered the AIA to tighten its grip around the Senate and start flushing out any treasonous elements that remained.
Meanwhile, thousands of ships and 4 billion more soldiers began pouring through the Portal and starting the liberation of the galaxy. Reaper forces everywhere had begun to face heavy losses and were forced to retreat.
The Galaxy had gained hope as Ascendency forces started to liberate the galaxy. Thessia was secured and the process of rebuilding had begun. Food, medical supplies, and shelters for the displaced were being built across the world as the Asari began to regroup. Matriarch Selene worked tirelessly, organizing efforts to restore her people's morale and infrastructure. The ruins of Praxus were filled with the sounds of reconstruction, and the flickering lights of hope began to shine amidst the devastation.
Meanwhile, Axel coordinated operations from his capital ship, where he oversaw the ongoing campaign against the Reapers. The holographic display showed an ever-expanding network of liberated worlds, each marked by glowing blue symbols. Reports streamed in from various fronts, detailing the successes of his forces.
"Palaven has been secured," an officer announced, breaking Axel's focus. "The Turians are rallying their forces for a counter-offensive in the next sector."
"Good. Coordinate with their commanders," Axel replied, his tone steady. "We need to ensure that the Reapers can't regroup anywhere. I want the fleets to maintain pressure on all fronts."
As the days turned into weeks, Axel's strategy of rapid strikes and simultaneous offensives proved effective. With each victory, the Ascendency's reputation grew, and more species began to join the fight against the Reapers. The Quarians had used their massive fleet to help with evacuation efforts, while the Vorcha were being used as infantry for the Ascendency forces.
On a front near Sur'Kesh, a joint operation was underway with the Krogan. Axel had arranged for a significant force of Titans and ODSTs to work alongside their ground troops, ensuring that the Krogans were fully supported.
"Emperor Axel, we're ready for your command," a Krogan general grunted over the comms, his voice booming. "Let's crush those metal bastards!"
Axel chuckled, appreciating the Krogan's enthusiasm. "Let's make sure they never forget the taste of defeat. Focus on the northern corridor; we'll cut off their retreat."
The ground shook as the Titans charged ahead, their heavy footfalls echoing in the canyons. Bolstered by the Krogans' ferocity, they pushed deep into Reaper territory, leaving destruction in their wake.
In addition to this, Cerberus had started to become a rising enemy as they somehow managed to control Reaper ground forces and had begun carrying out their own offensives against the galaxy. The Geth was also seen working together with Cerberus which forced Axel to focus his attention on Cerberus to find out how they were able to gain control over Reaper forces and the Geth.
