Deb was taken aback by the words Edith spoke. She leaned back in her seat looking at Edith and then she looked around trying to ascertain if she was the one Edith was talking to or if it was someone else.
"Were you talking to me?" Deb asked after looking around and found there was no one else Edith could have been speaking to.
"Yes of course," Edith replied with a fake smile. "I'm speaking to you."
"And you said you know my secret? What secret are you talking about?" Deb asked as she took a forkful of spaghetti into her mouth.
She seemed too relaxed for someone they just told that they know about her secret. She seemed not to be bothered by whatever Edith had against her. It was as if she had nothing to hide.
If Edith didn't see her on those nights she would have fallen for her acting.
Edith on the other hand could not touch her food. She kept using her fork to move the spaghetti around her plate.
