章 129: Is She Changed?

Ava stood frozen at the door as she stared into her mother's face. What was she doing here? Maddie told Ava she hasn't seen her for a while, so Ava thought she had skipped town again.

Ava wanted to slam the door in her face, but she couldn't seem to find the strength to do that.

"Ava dear," Her mother called out, her voice sounding hoarse. She looked frail, so frail it was as if she was about to fall apart if being shaken. Her skin looked so pale with so many needle marks on her arms, her clothes shabby looking, spotting several holes in them.

Ava was dazed as she continued to stare at her mother. She opened her mouth to speak but no word came out.

Her mother reached out her frail hand and tried to touch her but Ava took a step back, putting some distance between them.

"What are you doing here?" Ava asked, snapping out of her daze. Her throat suddenly felt dry.

"I came to see you. I have missed you," her mother said, smiling nervously.
