章 24: Eat Or I Would Be Forced To Feed You

As Ava sat in mason's car she tried to make herself relax. He already said he wasn't going to hurt her, not that she trusted him, but she kind of figured he wasn't going to gain anything from harming her.

She decided to look out the window as Mason drove. "Where exactly are we going?" She asked him, trying to keep her mind distracted.

"Meals in Minutes," Mason said, his eyes glued on the road.

Meals In Minutes, she knew that place, not literally but she has heard about it, and how it's a place where only the rich could afford to eat. Ava looked down at her sales uniform, how was she supposed to go to such a fancy place dressed like this? She wanted to ask Mason to stop the car as she didn't want to go to a place like that, dressed like a salesgirl, but she quickly decided against it. What was the point? She was a salesgirl and there was no need for her to be ashamed of it. It's not like anyone would even recognize her there, she was a nobody and she would definitely go unnoticed. So she might as well just go with him and hear what job it was that he had to offer her.

When they arrived at the restaurant, a valet came to them and took Mason's car keys to help him park his car. Ava quietly followed Mason behind as he walked inside the restaurant, he held the door open for her so she could go in first.

"Thanks," she murmured as she walked past him.

A waitress walked up to them, Mason whispered something to her and she smiled and led them to a table. Ava guessed he hadn't made any reservation, and ended up using his charm to secure them a table. She couldn't blame the waitress, Mason was a fine man to look at, and any girl would fall for his charms.

Including you? Ava quickly shook her head. Where had that thought come from?

Mason pulled out a chair for Ava to sit on before he sat down himself.

Ava nervously looked around the restaurant, several other people were seated having dinner, some with friends, others with their partners, and some were by themselves. None paid her attention, or noticed that she was putting on a sales uniform, everyone seemed to mind their business. Ava finally released a breath she didn't realize she had been holding. She turned to find Mason looking at her, she wanted to ask him why he was giving her that look, but seemed to have lost her voice as she stared back into those icy blue eyes, what was it with his eyes that makes her lose her voice anytime she looks into them?

Slowly looking away from her, Mason picked up the menu, "what would you like to have?" he asked, bringing her back from her trance.

"Umm," Ava cleared her throat as she tried to find her voice. She picked up the menu that was in front of her and the moment she saw the meals and their prices, her hunger disappeared.

"I'm not feeling hungry, I will just have water," she said as she placed the menu back on the table.

Mason looked up from the menu he was holding. What was it with this girl? She did this the first time that they met, and he had ignored it. And now she was doing it again.

"Water?" He asked, trying to make sure he had heard her well the first time.

"Yes," Ava said nodding her head.

Mason closed his menu, as he continued to look at her. "If I wanted you to have water, then I would have taken you to a river, and not a restaurant."

"Well, I didn't ask you to bring me here in the first place," Ava said, matching his stare. He wasn't going to intimidate her with his cold eyes anymore.

Mason let out a breath, she could tell he was trying to stop himself from saying something. "Please order for something, you look famished," he said it like it was an order.

Ava leaned back, "and what makes you think you can tell me what to do?" She asked with indignation in her tone.

Mason sighed, he should have known this wasn't going to be easy. Looking at her, he began to almost regret his decision of thinking of employing her, he thought of driving her back to her place and asking her to forget about the job, because he didn't think he had the patience to deal with her.

Mason remember why you are doing this, don't forget that. Mason took a deep breath as he picked up the menu again.

"The ceviche is good, you should try it," he said in a calm tone, ignoring her former statement.

"I'm allergic to seafood," Ava replied, causing Mason to look at her. "I'm sorry, I didn't know that," he said.

"That's because you didn't ask," Ava said replied, letting him know she wasn't happy that he was trying to order her around.

Mason murmured something about being sorry, then he looked at the menu again, "are you a vegetarian?" He asked her.

"No," Ava replied.

"Then you can go for the steak and mashed potatoes," he said.

"Can't we just go to the part where you tell me about the job you have for me?" Ava asked.

"No. First, we eat, and then we talk," Mason said in an authoritative tone as he signaled a waitress to their table.

Without consulting Ava, Mason made orders for both of them.

"I already told you I'm not hungry," Ava said a few minutes later when their food arrived.

Mason gave her a warning glare, "eat. Or I would be forced to feed you."
