Whatever their relationship was, whoever she was and despite their weird equation, arguments, the established hatred between them that they had discussed about before he brought her to his place, and the damn fucking argument of just being a husband and wife in pretense... all of evaporated in thin air as the realization dawned on him.

The realization that she was much more than that was apparent in the dull ache in his chest that was intensifying every second.

Archer sat beside her, stroking her hair gently to not startle her, ''Elvina, wake up,'' his voice softened.

If she was awake, she would have found herself unfamiliar with the tinge of tenderness in his tone.

His other palm hovered over her face for a moment before he placed it on her cheek, her soft skin felt contrasting to his rough palm.

His thumb glided across her cheeks wiping her tears as he cupped her face. She was cold, always this cold to touch.
