Nathan snorted and slammed his fist against his palm, his face flushed with rage.

Caroline, who was sitting on the sofa, had tried to say something but quieted down every time she opened her mouth.

Nathan's rage grew as he reflected on what he had learned a while ago. He stopped pacing and glared at her. He slammed his fist on the palm yet again, his jaw clenching.

Caroline could not stay silent anymore. "I admit I made a mistake. Instead of getting angry, you should do something to stop him from coming after me."

"Stop treating me as your subordinate," Nathan growled, storming towards her. "I am not working for you."

Caroline leaned back on the sofa unwittingly, frightened by his furious look. She clasped her skirt.

"You made the blunder, now deal with it." Nathan turned around and strode away.
