章 41: Li Yu's worries
An Mei's knuckles whitened as she tightened the grip on the money in her hands. She was angry, almost furious. The more she looked at the banknotes in her hand, the more her anger stirred within her. "Chen Ziyue!!!" she glared at Bai Liyue with darkened eyes. "How dare you? How could you fire me?"
"I just did, Your highness" Bai Liyue shrugged with a sarcastic comment.
Seething with anger, An Mei growled. "I will make you regret it, Chen Ziyue. How dare a woman like you who likes to sleep around fire me? Are you worthy? No!!! You are not. You are nothing but a slut and a cheap mistress. I curse you that you will never get a maid as good as me."
"Yeah, whatever," Bai Liyue yawned slowly. "Now, get out."
"Humph!" An Mei snorted coldly, packed her things, and left.
As soon as An Mei was gone, Li Yu sighed heavily. She patted her chest, feeling relieved that a mad person from beside her while at the same time, she was also worried for her employer. Seeing An Mei's weird behavior, it was clear that she was a crazy woman, and with her anger at getting fired, who knows what that woman would do?
Morover, she seemed like a big braindead fan of Xie Yunnan. With the online battle going on around her employer, she wondered whether this incident might her employer.
"Li Yu, are you still scared?" Bai Liyue inquired when she looked at the young woman who seemed lost in her thoughts.
Li Yu blinked her eyes and shook her head. "No, I am not scared, Miss Chen"
Bai Liyue smiled. "That's a relief. Now, you can work with a peaceful mind."
"Yes, Miss Chen." Li Yu nodded.
"Don't worry, next time, I will do a proper check before hiring people. I don't want crazy people like working in my house," Bai Liyue mentioned.
Li Yu nodded again. This was her exact thought, too. She also didn't want crazy people to work anywhere near her. This incident with An Mei almost scared her fragile heart. With a sigh, she glanced at the employer, and her heart suddenly felt sorry for her. Miss Chen was such a caring, good woman. She didn't know whether the scandal was true or not but the rumors about her being arrogant, rude, uncaring, dominating, and mean were definitely not true.
According to her, Miss Chen was a nice, kind woman. Her smile was like a burst of sunshine on a bright day that could cheer anyone up.
After making sure that everything was fine in the kitchen, Bai Liyue turned to leave. Just as she was about to walk through the door, Li Yu called her.
"Miss Chen, wait."
"Yes, Li Yu?" Bai Liyue turned to look at her maid.
"Ummm... that," Li Yu pressed her lips together, hesitating to speak her heart. "About that....."
Seeing her maid's hesitating expression, Bai Liyue fell into deep thoughts. What's the problem with Li Yu? Why is she hesitating? Wait, hold on, does she want to quit? Though she had no problem getting another maid to work for her, if Li Yu quit the job, but she didn't want Li Yu to quit. She seemed like a good girl, instead of An Mei. On top of that, it would take her a day or two, to get another good, new maid.
"Li Yu, do you want to quit?" Bai Liyue frowned slowly.
"Huh? What? Quit?" Li Yu was confused. Why did Miss Chen think she wanted to quit?
But when she saw the anxious look in her employer's eyes, she realized something. Miss Chen misunderstood her hesitating expression for something else. She thought that she wanted to quit because of this incident when all she wanted was to talk about An Mei.
"Miss Chen, you misunderstood me. I don't want to quit," she replied quickly.
"Ah! That's a relief, then." Bai Liyue was glad. "Then why were you hesitating?"
"That....I... I wanted to talk about An Mei," Li Yu mentioned.
"What about her?"
"Miss Chen, An Mei was furious when she left and she warned you, too. I just want you to be careful about her. She seemed crazy enough to do anything. With all the online comments and craze about you, I don't want this incident to affect you," she expressed.
Hearing her, a smile came to Bai Liyue's face. She felt genuinely happy that someone was there to care for her, even after all the hate she has been receiving since that scandal broke out. Even back when she was staying at the hospital, she noticed the nurses looking at her with that low, condemning look. Though on the surface, they pretended to take care of her, but behind her back, she knew they were talking bad things about her.
Her life was like a book that everyone could reach and gossip about. At that moment, she felt a pain coming from deep within her soul. She knew that it was not her pain, but the original Chen Ziyue's pain. She was just an innocent woman, caught up in a dirty scandal with everyone pouring dirty water on her. Nobody cared about her, nobody asked for her truth.
Nobody wanted to listen to her words. They only wanted to use her life as entertainment, a purpose of excitement and gossip about her.
Maybe this was what pushed Chen Ziyue to jump from the building. She did now know. Her suicide was natural or somebody pushed her down was still a mystery for her. But, one thing was quite clear. Chen Ziyue was deeply affected by what people thought about her.
"Thank you, Li Yu." Bai Liyue smiled brightly. "I will be careful about that matter."
Li Yu saw Bai Liyue's light expression and realized that her employer didn't take her words to her heart. She felt worried. For some reason, An Mei's warning echoed in her mind. She felt that this incident was not something to be taken lightly. Hence, she took a deep breath and decided to express her thoughts to her employer.
"Miss Chen, I think -"
However, before she could complete it, Bai Liyue cut her off. "Li Yu, don't worry, everything is in my control. Nothing will happen. An Mei won't be able to do anything. Be rest assured."
