章 369: ...That's My Job

Laney still seemed stressed and on the verge of tears now and then and Richard was frustrated, not knowing why that was until he realized a common thread. Those instances always had to do with Karina. 

When she smiled or giggled. When she was dressed up in a funny outfit. When Laney and Lissy were playing with her. He had worried about Lissy getting attached to him so why hadn't he considered that Laney would get attached to their daughter?

She was a nurturer! Of course she would get attached.

There wasn't anything Richard could do about that though. The deal had always been that she would be nothing more than a surrogate. 

Unfortunately, she hadn't been acting as nothing more than a surrogate all this time. She loved that baby because that was the sort of person she was. She couldn't take care of someone without being attached.
