章 38: I Think You Got Catfished

The woman frowned at Scott and insisted, "We really don't have anyone here by that name. Is Delia a nickname for something? What is she in for?"

He didn't think it was a nickname for anything. She had never said so anyway. What sort of names would have Delia as a nickname? He didn't know anything about old-fashioned names! Richie said it was from his generation but that wasn't terribly helpful right now.

"Please, she came in for an appendectomy and he said she hit her head and fainted because of the pain," he said desperately.

The woman's frown grew deeper. "What time did you get that call?"

"I don't know, an hour and a half ago? It took me a while to get here but I came as soon as I heard."

"The only appendectomy that's happened since then hasn't been for a Delia Mortensen."

That made absolutely no sense. How could it not be Delia? There weren't any hospitals with similar names he could have confused it with.
