章 54: Blood In The Cupboard
Skylar leaned against the wall at the corner of the street observing the state of his house from a distance. Her mother's house looked quiet from the outside, and Skylar guessed that her mother wasn't there.
Skylar tucked his hands into his pockets, gripping the key inside tightly. With wide strides, he began to walk across the street. He never thought that he would enter the house sneakily like this like a thief when he was about to enter the house where he had been living for half his life.
He entered the yard and began to unlock the front door. Skylar was getting into the room as he didn't feel the warmth swirling around in there, his mother might have left last night. Skylar couldn't find any note left on his fridge door. He realized Renjana must be mad at him for what he did. However, Skylar is also angry at his mother and at all.
When lateness messes things up if only his father would come to his senses and figure it out. If only the heavens knew if only their parents weren't childish. Skylar's mind drifted back to Raihan's explanation last night and settled down.
"I only found out a few years later what your mother did to Neil through the book you showed Dad."
"What is it, Father?" Skylar asked, feeling her stomach roll.
"Through the pictures of the house without windows and doors, big hands filling a whole page, and other pictures that Neil deliberately colored in dark colors. Skylar knows what that means?" asked Raihan.
Skylar shook his head slowly, an uneasy feeling had surfaced on the outer surface of his skin and kept on wondering what Raihan would say next.
Raihan then answered his question. "It's an indicator of sexual abuse happening to children."
He blinked at the memory again causing Skylar to massage his throbbing forehead. With a quick stride, he entered his mother's unlocked room. This surprised Skylar because yesterday he saw Renjana herself lock the room and looked angry when Skylar entered it. Maybe his mother thought Skylar would never come back here.
Skylar's eyes wandered around the room that Skylar had not left for twenty-four hours. Everything looked the same, Skylar getting closer to the slightly open cupboard. He inadvertently sniffed the air which gave off a faint, fine iron scent and the scent became more and more distinct when Skylar was standing right in front of the cupboard.
Skylar's hand went up and opened the cupboard in one swing. Skylar stiffened at that moment with his eyes widening as he found too much reddish liquid stuck to the glass. Skylar's stomach was churning and it made him nauseous and felt like he could throw all of his guts out at any moment.
Skylar pressed her hand to her mouth, as she again surveyed the strange and horrifying sight that lay before her. There's no mistaking it, Skylar thought in his head. The liquid with the smell of iron sprinkled on the glass cupboard was unmistakably blood.
Skylar gaped as her eyes accidentally saw the blood was fresh and not even dry on either end. Even he noticed a few streaks of blood seemed to still be flowing slowly.
Skylar got restless and his legs went limp and he squeezed his feet to keep them on the ground. His head was full of questions that were racing out of his mind. His hands went cold and a raging feeling began to struggle.
Whose blood is this?
Is this his mother's? Does the blood belong to someone else?
Skylar shook his head in disbelief, that was impossible he thought. However, if it's not Renjana's blood, then whose is it? The blood-splattered was enough for a small wound.
Skylar ruffled her short hair and sighed with anxiety that gnawed at her body every time her eyes fell back on the inside of the mirror.
He still stared at the bloodstain and refused to look away from it, leaving many questions hanging in his mind and like a spun thread that was difficult for him to decipher on his own. Skylar was sure that nothing had happened to his mother. In her mind, despite the intense anger and disappointment toward Renjana, Skylar realizes that Renjana is still her mother.
Blinking and getting up from her thoughts Skylar remained positive about what had happened. Could it not be blood? Skylar shook his head again, but this was indeed blood. However, it could be animal blood, but why?
He had completely forgotten what purpose he had come here for, Skylar couldn't hold his breath, he slowly reached into his pocket to find a small penknife there. Skylar convinced himself that what he was doing was right and Skylar would stick to it.
Skylar scratched the skin on the surface of his hand quickly so he wouldn't feel too much pain because his skin was touching the sharp blade.
Fresh blood began to flow from Skylar's exposed skin, he quickly looked down and raised his hand to place it on the mirror surface, which was strangely warm on Skylar's skin.
Skylar closed her eyes waiting for the reaction she thought would occur. But Skylar didn't feel anything happening to his body by pressing a little harder than before on the mirror. Skylar quickly opened his eyes and his emotions immediately faded when Skylar did not experience any changes.
Skylar felt bad he pressed his hand back against the mirror, but nothing happened. This time Skylar went into a closet that was just right for his size and again smeared his blood on the other part that wasn't covered in blood.
"Why is it like this?" Skylar muttered to himself being dispirited and lied to when Skylar tried and saw no significant change.
"What is wrong?" he asked in a low voice with an uneasiness creeping up and Skylar's heart racing.
"What is wrong?" he asked again. Don't give up on just one try.
Skylar gripped the knife in his hand tightly and rose out of the cupboard. He stared at the cupboard for a long period of time. Why can't this happen to him? While Michelia herself can do it in one go.
The sound of the phone ringing shifted Skylar's focus on the wardrobe, she quickly reached into her trouser pocket and reached for the phone after she pressed the answer. Didn't even have time to say anything Skylar stiffened at the fast sound of the cell phone.
Without looking at the cupboard again Skylar started walking out leaving the house behind which was too much of a mystery. He'd be back after Skylar had read the book well and seen what had happened with the summons just and done it all.

But what Skylar didn't realize, was someone groaned from behind the bathroom in Skylar's room, someone was lying limply covered in blood that stained his tattered clothes.
