I carried Boss to the abandoned second floor of the palace. A large chunk of the floor had disappeared, leaving a pile of debris and a doorway in its wake. That doorway led to the void of confusion, misery, and hopelessness that had formed on the island. The sight was so alluring that it was hard to take my eyes away, but a push on my shoulders jolted me back to my surroundings.
