On the way to meet Jet, Gus and the others went to the medical room before leaving to see if Connor was alright. After some time resting, he was in good enough condition following the fight in the Pit to join them on the mission.
"If you want, you can get the mission started right away," Jet said upon seeing Gus and the others. "I'm sure Dorrian won't mind. And if he does, then I can just talk to him about it."
The mission was a simple one, and was meant to be low risk, quick, and easy.
"I'm just going to be honest with you. This is part personal favour, part supply run for the academy. This is my second year here as an officer, and I have yet to reach out to Mrs Blake in a non professional manner. Since I've recently became aware of some books that might relate to her course in a big way, I was hoping to get them for her as a gift, to extend a hand of friendship. But, officially, this will be going down as a mission for the academy."
"So, we're going to retrieve some books?" Gus asked. "Can I ask what they are, at least?"
"They're old books, written by a man named Franklin Marstead. Long story short, they were political philosophical books that were designed to highlight the necessity to keep the core of humanity in this system, where the home is. It's an interesting read, you should take a look if you get the chance. There's a shuttle ready for you now, if you want to get it done quickly."
"Alright, we'll do it now," Gus said after a moment of thought and consideration of his squad.
"That's great!" Jet exclaimed. "Come with me, I'll take you to the shuttle. You can grab some equipment there."
The shuttle bay was on the floor below, where they had taken the Entrance exam a few days prior. However, instead of returning to the waiting room they had spent a number of hours in, they turned right as they left the elevator.
There was a small room at the end of the hall, with a doorway on the other side. Inside this room was a stockpile of weapons for students to take out on their experience protocol missions. As expected, due to their low cost to effectiveness ratio, the racks of the stockpile were lined with MT-11 Repeaters and MT Sidekicks, along with a satisfactory amount of supplementary ammunition batteries. There were also some cheap looking swords in a rack on the other side of the room, designed to give an option to any students who find themselves needing a blade.
As Gus and the others took equipment from the racks, Jet gave them more information about the mission.
"My contact is in the Old Germany region of the EAN. The shuttle will take you straight to him, and from then it is merely a case of finding the books and bringing them back here. It should be simple, but keep an eye out for anything that might cause you problems. While down there, your Comm devices will be updated with the information that you are on a mission, so be sure to use it where you can."
*Issued Mission: Book Recovery.*
*Recover the Books to earn a reward.*
"Good luck out there," Jet said. "Keep your wits sharp and your heart beating."

The journey was split into two different parts. Firstly, was the journey from the academy in Earth's orbit to the surface. This was the quickest part of the journey, and landed them in the spaceport in London. This was the only place they could go from the academy, since the London spaceport was the only one that was sanctioned for transport to and from the academy. While there were extensive security checks upon landing, given the fact that they were heavily armed, the fact that London was sanctioned had its perks.
Instead of the typical checkpoints they would have to go through if they were visitors from another system or world, they were instead permitted to use the checkpoint marked as belonging to the academy. This way, instead of going through the tedious process of being checked and needing multiple forms of documentation to leave the spaceport, they only had to show their communication devices to prove they were members of the academy on Earth for academy business.
Once their information was verified by the checkpoint, they would need to wait and catch the next flight out to Old Germany. This one was more of a classical flight, as it transported people across land in the world rather than across space between planets.
Technology had also made these flights faster. Instead of a flight from London to Old Germany taking a little over an hour like it would with conventional technology, it took less than thirty minutes to make the journey. This is thanks to developments such as the T-17 engine and the Pendian Orbital Transport System.
Within what felt like no time at all, Gus and the others had landed in the Munich airport in Old Germany, before taking a two hour journey along the road to Frankfurt.
Upon arriving, they were greeted by Jet's contact.
"I take it you're the people Jet sent about the books. My name is Frencian Walde, and I'm the one who made the discovery of the books."
"Where are they?" Gus asked.
"They're in an abandoned library around here. It's not far, only on this street. Be prepared before you go in, though. Frankfurt's become a breeding ground for piracy in recent years, so although unlikely you might still encounter some trouble while you're there. It won't be too much of a problem though, not for academy members like yourselves."
