Zhao Yi and Edward Witten were back at discussing their problem, both becoming fully immersed in their exchange. Working together, their research truly flourished, as they were able to share insights, engage in mathematical discussions, and confront new ideas.
However, research isn't something smooth. They still needed more inspiration, more thinking.
Over several consecutive days, they kept discussing the concept of two raised to the nth power, but their deliberations didn't reap any tangible results. Eventually, Edward Witten suggested, "We might not need to prove '2 to the power of N' for now. Instead, we could consider it as a concept or a hypothesis. For your research, the hypothesis could be that particles composed entirely of energy, whose boundary doesn't include energy points measured in 'units of two to the nth power'."
Zhao Yi contemplated this idea before giving Edward Witten a thumbs-up in approval.
