Heldon was finally getting into a rhythm when he heard a voice interrupt them over his shoulder.

‘No matter how much you love this disgusting half-breed, you two will never be together.’ Ryce cackled over his shoulder and Heldon pulled off, distracted.

Of course, he’d be haunted at a time like this.

‘Yet, I’m not telling you anything new. You already knew that what you have with this abomination was never made to last.’ Ryce’s sinister voice coiled around him like wire, ready to loop around Heldon’s throat.

“I can’t…we can’t…I’m sorry, but I need you to stop.” Tival eased Heldon away.

Heldon’s heart crashed landed into his gut like a falling star.

“Uh, are you ok? Did I…” Heldon trailed off.

This was all that they’d get, wasn’t it?

“It’s not you. I just…this can’t wait.” Instead of Tival lifting Heldon up to his level, he lowered himself down to the mossy forest floor.
