"Isn't that Alex Rune?"

"Yeah but his eyes... I swear he wasn't a User..."

"I saw him just a week or two ago and he definitely wasn't one."

"He got an ability at 18? How does that work!?"

Several people in the crowd were voicing their opinions, trying to figure out if Alex had been a User for a long time and they didn't know or if he recently became one. Either way, they were both proud and jealous at the same time.

Due to the difficulties of life that everyone in this area experienced every day it was a big event when someone managed to achieve success, most often through a child in one of the households becoming a User.
