"What!"
Alex's eyes widened with surprise as he held the piece of paper in his hands, trying to make sense of what was written on it.
"Annulment of engagement," he muttered slowly.
He looked at his father for an explanation.
His father sighed and began to explain, "Your fiancée's family has decided to break off the engagement."
Alex was stunned and thought, 'Wait, I had a fiancée.'
He was thinking when he remembered that he was engaged, but he completely forgot about it.
How could he have forgotten that he was engaged?
There are many clans on this continent, but only five major clans.
One of them is the Dracon clan. The Dracon clan is well-known for its fire element cultivators, while the Light clan is well-known for its light element cultivators.
The Frost family is well-known for cultivating the element of ice, while the Peng clan cultivates the element of wind, and the Di Long clan cultivates the element of earth and has stronger bodies than normal cultivators.
If Alex recalls correctly, his fiancée was from the Light clan; she was the daughter of the clan's leader, Thea, who was widely admired for her incredible ability to cultivate the light element and had a heavenly physique on top of that.
She was a genius who had trained in the light element since a young age, was well-respected among her clan's other cultivators, and was regarded as one of the most talented cultivators of this generation, not to mention her beauty, which was said to captivate the hearts of many.
You may be wondering why Alex, who was essentially known as a waste, was involved with such a person. His father and the light clan's clan leader were friends, and luckily for both sides, one had a son and the other had a daughter.
So both sides wanted to form an alliance between the two clans and arrange a marriage between the two children, which made both sides happy at first.
But the plot was a b*tch, and after Alex was tested and discovered to be a waste, their relationship became more complicated.
Alex, on the other hand, had no feelings about canceling the engagement.
First and foremost, Alex was certain that Thea didn't like him; he had only met her a few times, and every time she showed indifference and disgust towards him, he assumed that she was not interested in the marriage.
Deep down, Alex didn't want this engagement; he still remembered how Olivia, someone he cared about, betrayed him, leaving a mark in his heart, and he was afraid of opening up to someone else.
'Women are complicated and unpredictable,' Alex thought to himself
"Did you accept?" he asked his father after closing his eyes and taking a deep breath.
"No, not yet. It is entirely up to you to make your decision."
"Accept their offer."
Lucas' eyebrows rose in surprise when he heard his son's quick response, but it was clear from his son's expression that his son had already made his decision.
He sighed, about to nod to Alex, but he was cut off.
"However, before you accept, I must first obtain some benefits." Lucas was taken aback by the suggestion.
"You know, father, my heart has been broken, and their cancellation of the engagement has put me in a state of depression; I can't even sleep because of it." Alex started speaking in a soft, gentle voice, his eyes expressing sadness as he spoke.
Lucas was surprised by how his son was acting; when he told Alex about the canceled engagement, he noticed that his son's expression didn't change much, indicating that he didn't care.
"That is why you should refuse their offer if you have nothing to gain." Alex's grin spread wider as he said that.
'Is that really my son?' Lucas thought he was still shocked. He started thinking, 'Is his son changing after being cured?'
Lucas looked at Alex in disbelief, trying to reconcile the person standing in front of him with his memories of a son who was always so shy and soft-spoken.
He closed his eyes and started laughing.
"Hahaha, yeah, that's how it should be.
Okay, I'll take their offer to cancel the engagement, but only if I gain something." He accepted Alex's idea.
He was extremely proud of Alex because, for the first time, he saw his son acting like a man, and he was furious that the Light clan had cancelled the engagement; it was a slap in the face!
But he couldn't do anything because it was a matter for this generation, and his son should handle it, and after Alex's idea to gain benefits, he was pleased.
"Thank you, dad," Alex said, nodding and smiling.
'At the very least, I'll get something for free without doing much work.' Alex pondered.
[Good for you, host.] The system spoke in Alex's mind.
'Thanks'
Following that, both father and son discussed various topics. Alina arrived later with tea and snacks for them.
Alina smiled as she served them tea and snacks while they continued to discuss various topics.
His mother had already learned about the cancellation of the engagement, and after learning that her son had accepted the cancellation, she was initially taken aback but later decided to trust her son.
After a few hours had passed, Alex left his parents' residence. Today, he received a lot of information that he lacked as well as some pretty good advice about cultivation from his father, who was, to Alex's surprise, at the Foundation realm's 5th stage.
How could Alex have known? He only discovered later that he could scan any cultivator and view their data. which he used on his father directly.
.......
[Name: Lucas Dracon]
[Age:56]
[Cultivation Level: Foundation Realm Stage 5]
[Element: Fire]
.......
[What are you going to do now, host?] inquired the system.
While walking, Alex replied, "For the time being, I will return to my home and cultivate; I want to try to reach the second stage of the body refining realm."
So Alex returned home to prepare to breakthrough to the second stage.
