章 12: Super speed

As Itachi looked at the time ticking down, he started to rack his brains and think.

" I'm 100 points short, I can't miss this deal, I don't know the next time there will be a sale, or if there ever will be one "

Itachi thought as he sat there thinking of ways he could earn 100 points.

" Acknowledgement… Beating opponents stronger than you… Killing fierce beasts… wait, killing first beasts? "

"That's it! "

Itachi quickly got out of bed and paced back and forth.

" I'm deep into the sect right now, there are likely some fierce beasts outside the mountain. By the time I get down the mountain, it will be too late "

Itachi gave this thought some light but dismissed it thereafter, he re-summoned the system interface and browsed the shop some more. He clicked the 'Ability stones' button and was greeted with tons of items.

[ Lightning bolt stone: 250 points

Fireball stone: 100 points

Super jump stone: 50 points]

Hundreds of item stones appeared in front of him, each stone when crushed would release the said ability of the stone.

As Itachi browsed the system, he came across a peculiar item.

[ Superspeed stone: 100 points

( Temporarily grants the user immense running speed )

" This could help when descending the mountain"

Itachi then said " Buy "

Blue light shrouded the system interface then a small stone landed in Itachis's hand, it was cold to the touch. This was Itachi's best bet at the moment, he decided killing a fierce beast was his best bet to earn the remaining points.

Although the stone took 100 points away, he could earn 200 when he killed a beast, thus hitting his 500 points target.

Itachi held the stone in one hand and then quickly dressed into the sect's robes.

"Creakkk"

Itachi opened the doors to his house then swiftly left, he was like a shadow as he traveled through the open space, he didn't want to alert anybody so he nimbly ran down the mountain.

Itachi was Anbu Captain at the mere age of 13, he was the definition of a true assassin, an assassin would always be stealthy, this sort of activity was as easy as blinking to him.

As he descended the mountain he could see the sect gates in the distance, although it looked close it was still far away. With this body, there was no way for him to make it in time.

In the pitch-black darkness of the night, the sect gates had a load of lamps surrounding them, it was a stark contrast to its surroundings. There were loads of carriages parked in front and at least 5 guards in front of the gates. It was going to be difficult for Itachi to not alert them.

Even if Itachi had the knowledge of being an assassin, there was only so much he could do, this body couldn't keep up with his abilities.

Hence Itachi held the cold super speed stone and crushed it.

All of a sudden blue light shrouded Itachi, the translucent like light concentrated on his legs then disappeared.

Itachi didn't feel any different, he checked the system interface again and saw a message.

[ Superspeed stone: 4 minutes and 40 seconds remaining till it's over ]

Itachi closed the system then calmed his mind, he took in a deep breath, concentrated his mind on his legs then thrust forward.

Itachi looked around and to his surprise, he had traveled 10 meters in just one leap. This speed was shocking. Considering his body was still that of a child, it was impressive the speed stone was able to aid him this much.

"I wonder how high the effects of the stone will be once my legs get stronger, if I had the legs of an adult, the effect of the speed stone would increase immensely"

Itachi pushed these thoughts to the back of his mind then leaped forward, he was traveling at breakneck speed right now, the wind was hitting his face, and he could barely keep his eyes open. Everything around him was a blur at this moment.

After about a minute of running, Itachi stopped and saw the sect gates up ahead, he was now extremely close to the exit. He rushed forward once more and with all his strength jumped up. At this speed, even a little jump would be dramatic. Itachi swiftly leaped over the wall and disappeared into the vast forest ahead.

At the village gates.

One of the guards felt a strange wind brushing past him, he turned around to the other guards and said

" Hey, did you guys feel that? "

The other guards looked confused as they stared at him.

" Feel what? What are you talking about? "

The initial guard that spoke had extremely keen senses, he trusted in his intuition. A random gust of wind was extremely weird, the weather was not bad, and there wasn't a storm brewing.

" Strange, maybe I was mistaken, I could've sworn something ran past us "

The other guards looked at him strangely then ignored him, but one of them turned around to face him and said

" If you want you can get some rest, I heard you are running low on sleep today. We can ask someone to substitute for you "

The initial guard shook his head then said

" Thanks but it's fine, I think I was just imagining things "

The guards went back to usual and continued their everyday routine of patrolling the gates.

Itachi had his Sharingan and byakugan active as he made his way through the forest, he was able to see extremely clearly even though it was dark. He ran as he held his divine dagger in one hand.

He brushed past the grass at a speed that could not be seen with the naked eye, his super-speed was still active. Itachi was scouting the forest for any fierce beasts, looking left and right as his blood-red Sharingan lit up in the darkness.

All of a sudden, something caught Itachi's eyes, so he abruptly came to a stop, he crouched down and looked at the floor.

" These are the feces of a fierce beast, whatever made these droppings can't be far "

Itachi stood up and looked around once more, even with his advanced vision he could not see any fierce beasts. His super-speed was also finished now.

He tried his best not to go too far from the sect, when he turned around he could see a faint light in the distance, this was the sect gates.

The last thing he wanted was to get lost.

Itachi opened the system and checked how long he had left for the heavenly supreme grade spiritual root.

[ Time remaining: 47 minutes and 21 seconds ]

Itachi closed the interface and continued running, sweat was dripping from his forehead. All this running had taken a toll on his stamina, not to mention the Sharingan and byakugan were also active.

He continued to run deep into the forest, every few steps he would find feces on the floor, the deeper he got the more he found.

This was a good sign, he was getting closer to his target!
