Julia squared her shoulders and turned to face him. "Actually, I'm really enjoying my visit with Natalie. We were just about to sit down for lunch. Why don't you join us?" They'd already eaten but he didn't know that. She could manage more of Natalie's delicious food.
A guy as hung up on honor and control would not want to admit a mere woman had gotten away from him. And after his disdain for humans, she rather thought he wouldn't want to tell his leader she'd broken out of his house.
"Why don't we all have lunch?" Natalie said in a falsely cheerful voice.
Julia jumped up and helped her lay the table. "Thanks," she whispered under her breath and Natalie nodded.
Julia knew she was just postponing the inevitable. She sighed and placed some glasses on the table.
They all sat down at the table - Zacar next to Natalie and Zurian, with a silent threat, next to Julia. Something frightening was emanating from his silent figure.
