Coffee clutched in her hand for courage, Kerry stared at the formidable building holding the executive offices for their studio. Pedestrians walked around her, not noticing, not understanding her life hung in the balance when she walked through the doors.

It had been one day since she'd left Paul's hospital room. It felt like a hundred. Corporate had taken three hours to call her to set up the meeting to determine her fate. In the television world, it was an eternity.

Elise's surprise visit to Paul's hospital room had jarred her. And, no doubt, Kerry had handled it poorly. At the time, panic had filled her chest until she couldn't breathe.
