After breaking the record for fastest completion of a shower, Paul strode out of his bedroom and sighed in relief when he heard Kerry's shower still running. He thought about ordering her a sandwich, but changed his mind, walked into her room, and sat on the edge of the bed in case she needed help.

Screw that. He was never letting her leave his sight again.

When all was said and done, she'd insisted the crew stay at the site to keep investigating. Despite their protests, they'd agreed. The police had cordoned off the area around the mine until someone could come out and assess what had happened. She'd refused a trip to the hospital to get checked out, claiming she'd just twisted her ankle in the fall. He'd had to hear from Sammy that she saw the doppelganger again.
