章 8: A rather short, but nice chapter
"Now add the chili powder… and there, we got some chili, we just got to let it cook now."
I smiled as I put the pot on the stove. Yes I was at the soup kitchen again, lots of people to talk to when I'm relaxing. Currently Miss May is teaching me how to make chili.
"It's been a while since you've been here Mr. William, things been alright?"
I grinned, "It's fine, just got things improving for me, I've got my papers finally and can finally work. Got me a little apartment I've been staying in till I can get my own place and soon I'll be able to live somewhat normally."
"I'm glad, you've been helpful ever since you arrived."
"Sometimes helping others is the best way to help yourself." I said, while stirring the chili.
She frowns, "Wish you could tell Peter that, he's been a bit… isolated recently."
"Hmm, that's so? He doesn't seem like someone that would close himself off."
"I agree, wish I knew what is bothering him."
"Sometimes the best thing you can do for someone is to be there for them, even if they don't want to talk about whatever is going on. I've been here for a few days and I've seen his face brighten when he finds you, he may be going through something right now, the best you can do is be there for him."
She smiles, "Wise words. I've got to go to the office, talk to you later maybe."
"Sure no problem."
Hmm? Chili is done. Let's bring it up to the front.
An hour later.
I gulp down my cup of water. As one of the muscles in the building I had to do a lot. It's great for staying in shape though I guess. Today was the launch of my website. It hit big. Buy value was soaring as I earned cash not only through my games, but through others trying to put theirs up. I think I underestimated just how much they needed a fair storefront. Plus my own games were soaring in popularity. As well people covering the talk of Guardian'sLureStudio's development of VR.
I was only a few players off of hitting a cool million GV from Half Life and Halo First Contact. Both reached 5 stars in reviews and their popularity is greatly appreciated. The other games are also doing fairly well too.
"You seem to be lost in thought."
Ah, "Peter, I sorry, I was thinking about my next step."
"Oh, did they get your papers yet?"
I grinned, "Yep. Even got a job. Turns out, I'm a pretty decent programmer."
"Wow, things are looking up for you huh."
"Yeah. Things are. Hey Peter. I'd like to talk to you about something important."
"Something important?"
"Yea, I'd rather not be heard as well."
"Uh… sure, Come with me."
Then we head up… onto the roof.
"So what did you need to say?"
"You're spiderman right?"
Dead silence.
I continued talking, "Yes I know you're spiderman. I wanted to offer my help."
"Don't know what you're talking about."
I pulled out a phone I purchased from the store. Filled with images of Peter in spider man's outfit. From a camera. "Take a good look."
"Where did you get this?"
"The trouble downtown yesterday? I looked into it. Found this and decided that you would probably not like it if you had your identity revealed, so I edited it and removed it. If you swipe to the left you will find what I looped it with."
Silence as he looks. "Thank you, I had no idea that camera was there."
"I figured." I pull out a package from under my jacket. "Since I don't think I can stop you from going out and trying to be a hero, I made you something. Take a look in private when you have the time."
He looks at me. Confused. "Thanks but… don't you have any other questions?"
"Dude, I'm a guy from another world. The amount of questions I have you don't have the answer to. I take things going with the flow. Make sure you read the paper in the package as well, it describes how it works."
I start heading down. "Hey Eric, you're good at programming aren't you?"
I pause, "Yeah?"
"How would you like to help me out tonight?"
I lean against the wall. "I'm listening."
"I need to get into Oscorp. Do you think you can help with the security system?"
I smiled. Buy Value came at the right time. "Here's my number. I'll have something to help you out tonight."
Then I left, hearing a faint thanks as I left.
