Leo took the parrot in his hands and saw that its wings were slightly wounded.
"Put the beast back to its nest, Leo. It's already pitiful as it is.", Darion said.
A beast? Leo immediately thought of his Rooster beast soul. If he ate this beast, would his Rooster beast soul be awakened?
Generally speaking, it was possible as the rooster was a bird-type. Even if the color didn't match but the types matched, types such as specific race, etc, one could still awaken their beast soul.
Darion realized what Leo was thinking about and instantly stopped him.
"Leo, listen. It's not good to be too greedy. Weren't you awakened after eating the night cat's heart? Unless you are a dual beast soul wielder, you don't need to eat another one.", he said.
Leo pursed his lips as he thought, 'Uncle, I am a dual beast soul wielder! I think I am a triple beast soul wielder after seeing the lion beast soul that day.'
Although he wasn't sure if the cub that he saw was indeed that of a Lion, he thought it wasn't wrong to believe that.
Leo hesitated, "But uncle, wouldn't eating more beast hearts be better for a beginner like me?"
Darion shook his head profusely. "No, kid. I mean- yes, it is good for you essentially. But this poor beast is hurt. It's an unfair fight if you eat its heart now."
'Unfair fight?'
'Darion is thinking about the fairness done against a beast?', Leo was surprised by what he heard.
Leo pondered for a while. Sure, it's an unfair fight. But he couldn't help it.
Also, Darion wasn't aware of the fact that Leo was a dual soul wielder.
Then, he decided to use his Dragon Eyes to determine the ranking of the beast. If it was a high-level beast, he would instantly gobble it up. But looking at its size, it was hardly possible for it to be of any high rank.
Also, before doing so, he will definitely reveal the fact about his dual souls. Hence, he used his skill to take a look at the beast.
His eyes turned golden yet again which had just turned normal.
Alas, it was a mere level 1 beast. If he ate that, it would be of almost no use to him. His Rooster beast soul would be awakened for sure, but there would be no additional benefit that he received earlier.
His mystic skills wouldn't improve. Although he would gain additional skills and even many upgrades perhaps with a second soul, he was still unsure.
It wouldn't be bad to wait a little more and have a bit of knowledge about it before trying it out. Perhaps, there would be something better to awaken his second soul?
"Fine. I'll put him back into the nest.", Leo placed the parrot beast back into its nest.
After that, Leo climbed down the tree and approached Darion who was holding the cart.
"Good. No matter how great the outcome is, never take advantage of a beast that's hurt.", Darion said.
While Leo was someone who wanted to kill all the beasts since it was a beast that killed him in the last life, he agreed to what Darion said.
That was because the beasts looked no different from normal animals in his past life.
Leo rolled his eyes visibly.
'Sigh, Darion, I should be taking advantage of such opportunities. After all, I am not strong enough yet to eat the hearts of high-level beasts.'
'Just because I didn't have any knowledge and the fact that you denied, made me think otherwise. If not for these reasons, I wouldn't have thought twice before gobbling it up.'
"I know what you're thinking, Leo. If you tried to kill the beast, I would have stopped you regardless." Darion said as he patted Leo's head.
"Also, unless you reach Level 10, it's better if you don't eat a beast's heart.", Darion continued.
Well, this didn't mean that he couldn't eat. Of course, there were dishes made from the heart of the beasts. However, since it would be eaten by the people who hadn't actually hunted the beast, it would have almost no effect on their bodies other than filling their stomachs and satisfying their hunger.
Leo didn't say anything and continued walking while leaving Darion behind.
Darion grinned at Leo's childish action as he rushed behind him with the cart.
"Are you angry, Leo?", he asked.
Obviously, Leo would be as Darion stopped him unnecessarily and gave him such a weird idea which would bug him every time he would look at a weak beast. He just couldn't accept Darion's ideologies.
"No. Stay far away from me." Leo replied, puffing his cheeks.
Even if he was a kid right now, his mind and memories were that of a person who was 27 years old. Well, despite that, he acted like a child for once at least, unintentionally though.
Darion laughed as Leo stomped away. This was the first time he had fun while talking to a kid in recent years.
When Darion first saw Leo, he was shocked by how dull a child could be. His deep blue eyes were emotionless as if he had undergone thousands of sufferings before. Of course, Leo had just lost Leko then. But his emotions were too mature for a young boy like him.
Eventually, both of them arrived at Beastatown and then at the orphanage. It was already night by then.
"Leo! Darian!" Ai called out to them as soon as she saw them arriving.
It was dark so she couldn't exactly see them coming from far, but when they got closer and the light from the moon and the lanterns flashed, they were visible.
Needless to say, many people had gathered for the funeral with a lot of lamps.
Darion and Leo's expressions changed almost immediately as they recalled someone great and precious had passed away.
All they could do was mourn as nothing else done could actually bring him back.
