章 35: Chapter 35: Isaac Isn't the Only One Crying

Kissing Beck had been a mistake of the highest caliber. It reinvigorated Beck’s determination to win him over, and the man didn’t play fair. Movie nights ended with them in a giant heap, Beck carding his fingers through Isaac’s curls. He started baking Isaac’s favorite desserts, and he came back to the apartment with a book for Isaac.

It was Beck at his best, his sweetest, most tender side. He limited his competitiveness to video games, reined in his temper when Isaac accidentally threw out the grease Beck had been saving. He bowed to Isaac’s every whim.

It should have been everything Isaac ever wanted from him, but by controlling the uglier parts of himself, Beck didn’t really feel like the Beck Isaac had grown up with. It was like Beck-a-little-to-the-left, just different enough to be noticeable and off-putting, but not enough to say anything.
