Steph returned with two shopping bags full of supplies. The second Steph knocked at the bathroom door, Hong Gi answered wearing a towel hanging low from his hips and nothing more. Why he was still in the bathroom after all the time she'd been gone, she chose not to question. Instead, her focus was on his bloodshot, puffy eyes. Had he cried the entire time she was gone?

Someone might as well have stabbed her in the heart of all the pain felt. She'd done this to him. 

His body crashed into hers. His arms were steel around her. "You came back." The desperation seeped through the words.

For a minute, Steph stood stunned, unable to flip a switch on her emotions as fast as Hong Gi had from his cold standoffish attitude to this intimacy, which she craved but feared would never return to her. Was it that simple? She just had to come back for him to accept her.
